  FYI coffee makers are one of the most heavily depreciated items on Trademe. Looking at expired listings they tend to go for ~$350-450.

    That is a pretty good resell price TBH, as we have had ours for a few years now and I would be chuffed to get a resell price over $300.

    Depends on how much you pay for it to start with. For a kitchen appliance that requires ongoing maintenance, I think they hold their value quite well. You can even offload parts fairly easily

  I already have a coffee machine which is OK, but not quite as good as from a good cafe barista.

  If I bought this, I don't know if it would be any better than what I have (Panasonic ZA1). It is too bad there is no try before you buy option. I want to be certain it is better before dumping money on it.

    ZA1 is not really comparable to this machine. ZA1 is an automated coffee machine, the breville express is very much a manual machine.

    Yeah that is a good point to raise.

    My partner who was a barista in her uni days, said it is good for home use, and that it is just not as powerful vs cafe coffee machine.

    She originally snobbed it out, but realised she could still make good coffees with it.
