Kogan Mobile Prepay Mobile Starter Pack Large (15GB, Unlim. Calls with 30 Day Expiry) $5 (New Customers) @ Kogan NZ

140

Kogan mobile is back with an amazing SIM card bundle deal for first time customers.

Not as epic as the $1 90 day/ 96 GB plan that was available for purchase back in Dec 2020 ,but $5 still gives you a whopping 15 GB data, unlimited Calls/Texts and free MMS too for a month.
No other NZ network carriers can beat this deal. Great to use as a 2nd SIM for data especially.

Seems like it will be an ongoing offer for the rest of the year until next Feb 2022 as per T&Cs:
"Offer is available on Kogan Mobile $5 Starter Pack purchased before 11:59pm NZDT 01/02/2022 unless sold out prior. Vouchers expire at 11:59pm NZDT on 15/02/2022"

Thanks been meaning to cancel my vodafone plan

  • Can you prebuy like 12 vouchers and then use it every month?

    • Yes you can as long as the voucher code is activated before 15/02/2022. Just need to keep purchasing the starter pack using 12 different emails.

    • No. The voucher expires later this month and they don't stack.

Check the fine print at the bottom of the URL link I have attached to this post:

"The unique Kogan Mobile voucher included as part of this product is non transferrable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Voucher expires at 11:59pm NZDT on 15/02/2022"

Unless it's a typo error from Kogan and voucher actually expires 15/02/2021 instead of 15/02/2022*, I don't see any reason why we can't buy multiple sims using different emails and use one SIM at a time to get 15GB each month.

I have purchased one starter pack today, awaiting Voucher code to come through my email. Will check what expiry date is mentioned on the email to confirm.

        • Please do confirm, this might get me back to Kogan from Skinny.

          • @ABCDEFG: Yeah sure, will update the post if expiry date of voucher on my email states otherwise.

@ABCDEFG: Hey got the voucher in my email and it expires 15/02/2022. So it's confirm year round deal unless sold out prior.

        • Ah, I misread it as expiring this year. If 2022 is correct, then it should be possible to buy a year worth.

          • @Detruire: On the T&Cs it says "Voucher does not apply to subsequent recharges" - surely this means you can't stack them?

            • +1

@Dunedinite: Yeah have tried but can't stack vouchers for subsequent recharges.

Best is to buy individual SIM starter packs, dispose off once monthly plan is over (Don't forget to DISABLE Auto-Renewal on your Kogan account Dashboard) and use and activate new one.

I'm into my 5th month now using Kogan as 2nd SIM on phone and one for tablet for data.

The subsequent recharge plans once deal expires are still good, but not worth spending especially when a new SIM starter pack will give you another 15GB data and unlimited texts calls for only $5.

This wasn't possible previously on Kogan mobile deals like the aforementioned $1 96GB/90 days plan as the expiry date of voucher would be short dated. This deal looks like a winner as voucher expiry date is into next year (15/02/2022*), so buying multiple sims using different emails makes sense.

  • New customer only?

    • Yes, best to use as a 2nd SIM for data, phone calls etc (Kogan uses Vodafone network in NZ).
Have been using this since last October on my Samsung Tab S4 and no complaints, 4G speeds are pretty fast.

  • For what it's worth they had this offer available for all of last year so you don't necessarily need to buy a bunch of vouchers at once, as it will probably be available throughout this year and more $1 specials may come along.

  • Does anyone know if you can add a new sim to your account and use the voucher?
or does it have to be a brand new account?

    • I tried, but had to create a new account. Can't merge

  • Thinking to switch to Kogan mobile from Vodafone pay monthly. I'm based in Auckland Central so the network should be okay. Anything I should be aware of before jumping to Kogan?

Thinking to start with new customer $5 pack than go on prepay until another discounted yearly plan comes up :)
