is it noticeably better than the regular ones?
I have been buying the regular ones from 1-Day for a few years now for as little as 12c a tablet and they clean the dishes and that's all they have to do.
Me too - I stock up whenever they go below 15c (best I got them for was just under 10c each, although I think that might have been elsewhere - maybe Mitre10 or TWL).
For example, Easter weekend on 1-Day was 11.8c per tablet delivered (110 for $12.99 inc freight).
At the end of the day, the basic ones get everything clean - there is literally nothing more that their more expensive ones can do, except transfer cash from your pocket to theirs :-)
@Alan6984: Do you guys always rinse your dishes before putting them into the dish washer? I find the basic tabs can't really remove the food residue without manual rinse especially something like spaghetti. With Quantum Ultimate, the results are much better.
@xsolider: Somewhat - I wouldn't leave food scraps on them, else the dishwasher just smashes it up into tiny pieces and that just seems kinda gross to me to have that flying around all over everything :-)
This might as well be the deal, it's much better.
Good one but I've already used SUNSETCINEMA previously so can't redeem it again. Do you think we can get Mitre10 to price beat the 80 tabs? The packaging is somehow a bit different. https://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/finish-ultimate-quantum-dishw…
I think if Mitre10 did a pricematch, they would take into consideration the shipping cost.
Alternative options:
Pricematch at Mitre10 with The Warehouse
= $21.25 (80 tabs of quantum ultimate)
- different packaging as well though.Buy through The Market (240 tabs?)
- hopefully you can use 'REShPpeAj' for $10 off $49 spend (and get free shipping as a member)Not a member of The Market, otherwise it comes down to $16.67 per bag (80 tabs) which seems to be the best deal so far. I'm thinking just to create a new 1day account.
@xsolider: If you create a The Market account using a referal link from this website, you'll get a '$20 off $99 spend' voucher and give the random referer the same voucher too. You'll get free membership for 2 months. After that you can get a $2 Vodafone SIM card from Countdown which will give you free The Market membership for 5 years. https://www.cheapies.nz/node/24910
@sunshinenz: Thanks mate that sound great! Do you know if it's an one off sim activation or do we need to keep topping up?
@xsolider: I have no idea. I haven't topped up but I have had this for only 3 months. The market membership currently shows 'valid until Jan 2026'. If I don't top up the SIM the Vodafone number will be discontinue in Jan 2022. I don't know what will happen if I don't top up.
@sunshinenz: Just checked the website, the minimum top up amount is $10 via the app. If we only need to top up once a year, it's still way better than paying $5.99 the Market membership fee. I'm going to grab a $1 Vodafone sim from Pbtech which is not far away from me.
@xsolider: If you can get it to $16.67 for 80 tablets of Ultimate that seems a good deal although you might be able to get it cheaper when Warehouse has clearance if you get in in time or visit a store with stock. E.g. in 2019 https://www.cheapies.nz/node/19998 you could get 32 for $5 (would be $12.50 for 80). I was able to buy 5 online with free shipping and I don't think I got in that fast.
Last year best deal was $6.97 for 36 https://www.cheapies.nz/node/25273 which would be $15.49 for 80 tablets. Those were Quantum Max although I think Ultimate is sort of rebrand of Max. (The packaging is very similar and from what I can tell Max has disappeared in most of the world.) Some do claim Ultimate is improved though https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/Tx1Y2R92WA671L0 Those were sold out online quite fast at least from when posted here, although I found my local store had quite a lot of stock.
BTW, 1-day/Market sell 320 tablets mildly cheaper for their regular price but I don't know how Market member specials or coupons affect this. For some reason 240, 160 and 80 are the exact same price and it's only 320 that is cheaper.
@Nil Einne: Was stoked to get the 80 pack for $14.99 delivered from 1-day when they had that free shipping period (last week). First time using the quantum ultimate. Much better than the 'Shine' brand I was getting previously. Though most Finish products would be better than that brand I'd imagine.
@Nil Einne: Yes I was able to grab the $6.97 clearance deal last year as well. Bought 6 packs and that's actually how I started using those upgraded tabs. So do you reckon that it's very likely that the Warehouse will have such deal every year?
Packaging on websites are often wrong as stores don't bother to update them when it changes. I'm fairly sure Countdown one's are not parallel imported, if Mitre10 ones aren't they are surely the same since NZ is too small that Finish would bother to have two different packaging for the same quantity and product unless it depends on the factory but I also doubt they always send products from factory A to Countdown and factory B to Mitre 10, or there's a recent packaging change. Of course a fussy staff member might demand a photo from Countdown.
0.1c cheaper than their 27 tablet deal…
https://shop.countdown.co.nz/shop/productdetails?stockcode=4…That's just their regular tablets though. I'm not sure it makes sense to buy regular tablets at this price for the reasons mention above. Whether the Ultimate ones are worth it over the these that may be up in the air but I strongly suspect they do make a difference in cleaning in some circumstances. But I can see any reason to choose those over buying from 1-day unless you're desperate and can't wait for shipping or really hate the Warehouse Group. To be fair, I'm not sure if it makes sense to buy these from Countdown instead of buying Ultimate from 1-day either
This is a must watch for anyone who uses tablets in their dishwasher:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rBO8neWw04
Basically because tablets are only released in the second stage, there is no cleaning agent available in the rinse cycle so the oils on your plates etc end up getting smeared everywhere instead of suspended in the water and removed in that first rinse cycle.
I used to use only tablets but I have since gone back to using powder only. You can use tablets if you put some powder in the rinse dispensor, but it's more hassle than just using solely powder.
Each to their own :)
Does powder work out cheaper than tablets, or more expensive? It feels like it might be cheaper, but best not to rely on gut feelings I suspect.
If we assume that we can purchase Finish tablets that do a 'good' job for, say, 15c each, then what would be the break-even price for, say, a 2kg of Finish powder?
You need to read your manual for your dishwasher to do the calculation, but basicaally I got in to tablets because I once calculated it and tablets were cheaper with the crazy price I found on cheapies for some Finish quantum tablets with polish writing…..
But as I said above I never took in to account the rinse cycle. So they probably were not cheaper if my dishwasher actually had a proper chance to clean the dishes in the rinse cycle.
Just watched the whole vid. Definitely informative and gonna change the way we use our dishwasher moving forward.
Might be better off getting em from 1-Day.
