Thanks for the tip! I never knew.
Link for Christchurch:

It was listed here on Cheapies as a long-running deal from 5 years ago, but someone later marked it as expired for some reason.

Note the links are dead (but the deal isn't) because the councils have redesigned their websites since 2016.
Thanks for the information, I didn't know you could access this through the library.
Just going to leave this here
https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome
I need to spend a bit more time figuring this out. The last two times I used that bypass it stopped working after a month or so.
The developer regularly update the Chrome plug-in so you just need to delete the existing plug-in and reload.
Says on the site: "Usually premium articles cannot be bypassed as they are behind a hard paywall". Using the method they suggested for screening a new site before submitting, I can't access any premium articles in NZ Herald. So not sure this will help here, but it looks like it has good coverage of other news sites.
NZHerald is already on the list.
Install it and try on a premium article on NZHerald.
Was going to post the same, works great for me.
Works very well in Firefox :)
I downloaded the Iceraven (firefox) app on my Andriod phone to be able to use the bypass.
Paywalls website
Offers to unlock for 4 weeks

They'd have to pay me for me to even consider subscribing!
