Unlimited broadband recommendations?

It's a bit overwhelming looking at all the choices and promotions. I've seen really good deals but haven't heard enough about the providers.

Anything that is not a power company and my republic is okay. The best deals are usually on Vocus Network these providers are Orcon, Stuff-Fibre, Slingshot, Flip. Stuff-Fibre has the best deal and also the best exit rate should you not like them. Get the good deal here https://www.cheapies.nz/node/23240

    • +1 for Stuff Fibre

    • Seconded

    • I'm also with Stuff-Fibre since about Oct 2020, and no complaints so far.

I believe my deal was a 12 months contract, with 6 months half price or something similar.

      Alan.

  • $65 for 100/20 fibre no contract, but also no call centre so you must have internet to get internet…
Also $50 joining fee which could be deal breaker.

$79.9 for 900/500 no contract no joining fee seems pretty good https://www.hotshot.nz/max4less/

  • to anyone not technical international upstream providers make or break a provider the cheaper the deal the worst it is. Vocus and 2degrees have the best upstream providers international wise.

    • Who are the upstream providers for Vocus and 2Degrees?

      • Vocus and 2degrees are effectively their own 'upstream providers'. Vocus NZ uses their parent company's (Vocus AU's) network, while 2degrees has their own.

        • So would you know who HotShot use?

Also, how do you know - how could I find out myself without asking you? :-)

          Thanks,

          Alan.

          • @Alan6984: I'm not sure about HotShot. It appears to be a brand of Telnet Telecommunications Limited: the domain is registered and hosted by them, and the Ts&Cs mention Telnet NZ. Telnet use Vocus as an upstream, but I haven't found anything substantial that would connect that AS to HotShot. It's possible that HotShot is reselling a white-label offering from another provider (such as Vocus or Devoli).

I know about 2degrees because some of their staff have mentioned it on Geekzone in the past; Vocus because I am a customer… although if you know what kind of network they have, it's reasonable to presume that they'll be using it for their own brands.

  • Not all fibre is created equally poor performance from cheaper offerings. BigPipe is good and use Vicdeals promo code would avoid Slingshot, Vodafone and TrustPower.
MyRepublic is good on speed but their customer service can be dodgy sometimes.
Stuff Fibre apparently is good but not sure how i feel about a media company watching over my traffic.

    • stuff fibre… contact centres good… heard its now crap since it was sold to vocus

      • Vocus themselves are good sounds like expansion gone bad.
No one ever gets perfect CS these days Spark has been good in terms of support for me (so long your speaking to a Kiwi they seem to have more power/control hung up did the same request got some money chucked off my plan for 12 months)

  • I gave Contact a chance cos the bundle with power and gas was great, $60 a month for unlimited 100/20 fibre, also got the $100 credit promo. No fixed term so easy to change if you find it's not good. Just had to pay $15 for the modem delivery. I work from home so I'm using the internet constatnly, play games online, stream stuff, no issues at all.
