Should probably start banning everything from China then. Reason why we get things cheap it's because somebody else is producing it cheap in other words cheap labour. Should we ban Apple, Google, Amazon, Netflix, eBay, Ali express, etc, none of these companies pay enough tax here and most have employment issues.
We're in NZ not China. I don't care what happens overseas, that's for them to sort out, but I do care about what's happening in my own backyard and when I see a local retailer screwing their staff I stop buying from them, I don't promote their business and I sure as hell don't try and rationalize why it's ok to keep buying things from them.
They're not paying their staff, they're forcing them to use any holiday leave they have if they want to get money to survive during the lockdown and if you don't have any holiday leave then bad luck. It's disgusting that some of you are putting saving a few bucks for yourselves over making even the smallest stand against this kind of treatment of your fellow countrymen.
You're right, Amazon Surf another company pretending to be a New Zealand company when it's actually own by US private equity fund and probably paying very little tax here and treating their workers badly.
Yep wage subsidy is to assist employers to still pay staff. No mention in there about only paying 80% etc or any of the other crap I’ve seen attempted.
Cheap labour doesn't mean workers are being exploited.
Can we avoid posted Amazon Surf deals while they’re not paying their staff during lockdown?
