  • This good just for general viewing or overkill? Don't console game on my TV

    • Fantastic for Netflix 4K/Dolby Vision content.

    • Probably overkill unless picture quality eg. having the blackest blacks is important to you

I bought this exact model last week - the picture is amazing. I use it for gaming primarily

During the ~2 weeks it took me to decide on this model, I used rtings.com to compare models, eg. google "rtings lg c1 vs sony a80j" to compare the LG C1 range to Sony A80J range, along with other third party review websites

    • Depends on you and how much you value quality of the picture, some people are fine with LED Tv's, Qled's are closer to OLED, LCD is like the basic old school tech
Tv's are generally something that vary with people and so is best to go in store have a look and compare.

This guys good for watching some good comparisons if you want to research

    Cant find the page anymore.

  • Is there a way to use a Noel Lemming voucher through the market, to get the market discount as well. or would that have to be an in-store purchase

    • That would be in store purchase, probably use it for a sound bar or other stuff instead

      • That is what i thought.. now i have to work out what is better value for me. I have been looking at this TV for awhile…

    • I'm in your position too. I chatted with NL online but they said they don't match generic discount codes on TheMarket unfortunately.

You could also get $138.53 cash back via Kiwiwallet. So your total would come down to $3,819.57

  • i wonder how they justify the price of the bigger sizes…

    • Depends the smaller panels get cuts and the left over pieces get cut in for smaller devices, for the larger panel the extra pieces may not be usable or uses the whole panel hence why it costs more.

      • And you know, it’s bigger and all

      • I don't think that's how the panels are made. The manufacturing of larger panel requires large diy's and the process is more complex. Also, extra components required to handle bigger screens. And producing large glass with having as much less rejection ratio as possible.

Yes that's also a factor too hence why things like The Wall cost so much, as the tech needed to drive it is quite a lot more.
But its also panel reusability, if the excess/extra cut offs can't be used that cost has to to be absorbed somewhere.
This is why you see the same panel used in some high end devices also on low end devices as it also depends on grading quality you'll see this often with monitors

      • imo its all about having products at different price points. but yeah costs probably come into it too.

As a 65" C7 owner, the prices haven't changed much for the 65" over the years, unlike the 55" which has seen a bit more price competition. Note however that prices for everything are going up post-pandemic, and I don't think we'll see prices drop until we see some Chinese OLED panels.

Personally I would get a 55" (or even the 48") if I need an OLED today, and just sit closer to the TV.
