If it had wireless charging I'd be keen, why does this seem to be such an uncommon feature in anything other than flagship phones!

      Cost!

      Camera/Processor > Wireless charging

Just my 2 cents that my phone charges at 65W, which get 40% in 10 minutes, and fully charging in 38 minutes. Thus, the phone is good to go after toilet break. I don't really find wireless charging that useful to me especially if it charges the phone slower.

I think this Oneplus Nord 2 also has 65W charging.

      • Yeah wired charging is plenty quick, but I'd like the option if just popping my phone into a wireless charging cradle in the car, I always plug my phone in while driving so this would just be a nice thing for me. First world problems I know.

I have had a OnePlus 6 since 2018 and have just replaced the battery. The bigger battery and 5G is tempting. Keen to see the price and availability of the Pixel 6 first. I am sick of waiting months for Android updates from OnePlus.

    • Bro same…. I was a livid iPhone user… decided to spark it up a little. Bought OnePlus Pro 7 upon release… loved it, super fast, refresh rate is awesome. Fast charging, battery etc, much preferred it over iPhones.

2-3 years on, lack of OS updates and bug changes. My selfie camera does not work, tried all there suggestions I just get a black screen… It is 100% a software issue not hardware issue and they tell me "wait till the next system update" its been MOOONTHS

So sick of it. Trying to flick it off and will most likely never touch a OnePlus phone again because of it… its a shame

Most android phones don't get main software updates past 2-3yrs, I think its 2yr main updates then only security fixes vs iOS where you could possibly still be supported years down the line.

Hence why the custom rom scene exists, people like the folks at XDA keeping unlockable old phones alive with lineageOS / ASOP

If you or anyone else wants software longevity stick to iOS or maybe samsung with its phone upgrade program

      • I have the oneplus 7t pro, and basically have had a similar experience as you.

        Oneplus used to be better.
It's a bit frustrating because hardware wise these are great phones, but Oneplus just don't provide the same level of software support they once did.

Have you tried the Google camera mod (to fix the front camera)? It doesn't require rooting.

        • Can you explain a little more about the google camera mod?

pretty much since I updated to oxygen 11 camera didnt pop up and black screen, flashlight said it was always on but wasnt

Reverted to oxygen 10, camera pops up but black screen on my phone and camera pops down quickly…

          • @MoistLanguage: google camera mod
Googles camera app has been ported to other devices. see link below.
The post-processing algorithms is soo good, it improved the camera of my oneplus6 but my pixel2 is still better.

            https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-port-hub/

          • @MoistLanguage: Basically it's the camera app from google pixel phones that has been modded to work on oneplus.

Not guaranteed to fix the front camera, but worth a try.

            Check this link out

Edit: if it's not working after this, consider doing a full reset

    • That's changing as they are switching to use ColorOS from Oppo on all their phones.

  • Does this support all of the NZ 4G/5G frequencies?

    • Yeah. It does. Well at least last years model did.

  • I have the OnePlus Nord, and can report that I'm happy with it for the price I paid ($700 1 year ago)!

I would just note that this deal is TheMarket but via BrandColab - I have no clue what the warranty process would be like.

  • Might be possible to get the kiwiwallet 3.5% cashback on top?

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE at $664.20 is probably a better buy IP 68 waterproof rating, expandable memory, wireless charging, 24 months Samsung New Zealand warranty

    • And it'll get updates for longer including Android 13

  • I was one of the earlier One+ 1 adopter in NZ, and then upgraded to the OP 3… keep in mind this was before OP being an available brand locally.

The lack of support and company direction changing, and the inevitable alignment towards Oppo was imminent at the time.

I hope they've changed as a company now but the slogan never settle really is just not suitable for them.
