    DONT do this.
Be very wary that public trust charge an absolute fortune to execute the well.
Do a will thru a lawyer … It will work out cheaper than through these nasty people

I did my will online via Public Trust and it was easy, almost half the price than we got quoted from local lawyers too. I agree though don't have Public Trust as your executor - you don't have too if you create a will via them.

Second this - definitely don't use them as executor, fees are outrageous.

These online wills are really good - easy to use website and process, especially to update the will later. Heaps better than the old wills and heaps better quality than the random template you'll get from a law firm. Also, I'm not going to comment on pricing in the previous comment other than to say that if you're thinking a law firm will charge less than a crown entity you might be a little surprised… but I will say that you don't have to pick PT as your executor.

They charge like a wounded bull for execution of the will. I have been there with my fathers will, they have zero morals and even my fathers lawyer was shocked at what they charged.

Until you have been there and the (profanity) charge for every second and then have the cheek round up the nearest hour for a 5 minute phone call.

Research online…… People have suffered, familys have suffered because "Public Trust" are so untrustworthy.

Been told if you have home loan and when you refinance and the lawyer could do the wills for you for free only charge refinance fee

For those looking to create a will, this guide here is where I started https://www.moneyhub.co.nz/wills.html

I'm not associated with MoneyHub but I'm a firm believer in spreading financial literacy and really like what they do.

    • Came across them a few weeks back, seems very helpful.

Is a will really necessary? The laws of “intestacy” look reasonably fair to me.

  • Does anyone know how this compares to Footprint? https://www.myfootprint.co.nz/

    • You can trial the Public Trust online tool for free so why not give it a go and let us know your experience - it was a good process for me.
