But the price difference between electric and combustion vehicles takes years to make it worth it.
Only if you're wealthy and the fuel prices don't matter to you anyway, aka you buy a brand new EV for 100k.
I paid 9.5k for my Mitsubishi Minicab Miev and put 40,000KM on it over two years and it would have paid itself off if I had kept it for a third.
15KM/L at $2.20 at the time on my petrol Minicab before that.
$5,866.67 for fuel for the distance. + Oil changes, air filters, spark plugs etc.8KM/KWh on the Miev and we had a power plan that was 16.9c per KWh at the time.
$845 for electricityI sold because someone offered me the same 9.5K that I bought it for and it was too good an opportunity to miss as we'd bought a huge box truck so it was only really being used to commute at that point.
In the early days yes but we have a good saturation in the market and with current EV owners upgrading their cars along with more imports we have a better 2nd hand market now.
Dealership cars
Or look on Trademe 2nd hand market
Even Tesla Model 3 which is $67K before clean energy discountAnd operational costs are far less.
The only thing that's still a sore thumb is a battery replacement, but in the 5-10yrs+ by the time you'd need to get replaced we'd advanced in that area too and it's cost will come down or the tech will be better meaning you could have a way better battery.
with people like these (https://bluecars.nz/nissan-leaf-battery-replacement-project/) working on ways to make it better and cheaper. If you compare like for like e.g. 2016 Nissan Leaf vs. 2016 Toyota Corolla there is not much in the price difference, and the reduced fuel and maintenance costs will pay it back within a year or so.
Does anyone have more details about this? I can see the banner ad for it but it just leads to the buy/sell section. Is it classifieds, auctions, or both?
Both I'm pretty sure. Worked real well last time this came around with my old car.
Thanks, got an email with a few more details:
*Applies to used cars or motorbikes only [not other vehicle types e.g. boats] listed on a Basic listing option listed from 00:00 am until 11:59 pm on 30 October 2021. This promotion is for casual sellers only (not RMVT registered, and lists less than 10 vehicles in any 12 month period), and is non-transferable.
It says it's valid for Saturday 30th October.
Is it targeted?
I don't think so, I've listed two vehicles today.
Good time to sell and upgrade to electric with those petrol prices nearing $3/L
