$5 off Individual Products $5.01 & Over (Requires Click & Collect, Exclusions Apply) @ The Warehouse

1110

Can't figure out the specifics, but there's a bonus $5 off for what seems to be most of the store. Worked on a variety of $6, $7, $20, $50 items I tested.

"Click & Collect $5 Incentive -$5.00"
Has to be 1 item. Can't be multiple that add up to $5.

On the 1st of December 2021, an error was made and a $5 coupon was made available on our website. This discount offer was supposed to be restricted, however, in error, was made available for all orders for a short period, this error has now been resolved.

You have been identified as one of a few customers who placed several orders using the coupon before the correct restrictions were applied. Under section 3 of our terms and conditions, where we have made an error in the process of listing an offer on our website we reserve the right to refuse or cancel orders which have availed themselves of an offer where we have made a processing error.

On that basis, we will be cancelling all orders made by you which have availed themselves of this technical error. Weā€™d like to apologise for the inconvenience and say thanks for your understanding!

    • Just got this too. I picked up all my orders though. I'll laugh so hard if they cancel all my collected orders and refund me.

      • Which store?

    • I wonder if we've been placed on a list

    • It's interesting that it specifically mentions "customers who placed several orders". I wonder if that means they didn't cancel orders for people who only placed one.

    • +1

They didn't mention anything in the email regarding a refund..

    • +4

You can sense the passive aggressiveness in this letter.

  • Wonder who the deal is for.

    • Obviously not for Cheapies!

    • I'd guess it was supposed to be for some special type of orders, like a large quality or volume.

      • +1

Was told by a staff member today that it was meant for selected account's that hadn't ordered click and collect for awhile , but they also seemed to think the $5 was a code not automatically applied so they could be completely wrong..

  • +2

Partner just got asked to return the items (she picked up this morning) because her orders were refunded.

    • +2

Wow, they have upped the level! haha

    • +1

bit cheeky of them if you've already collected them - if they're consumables, just say its too late

    • +5

Put it on Aramex - should arrive by 2023!

    • +1

Will be interesting if others are asked in same situation.

    • +1

How many orders did you make?

That is hilariously silly. Surely not worth the business cost for items probably a bit over $5 each? The expenses would add up: staff time to re-collect items at counters, check items are sellable, tag them back in the system, and restock them on shelves.

In typical TWG fashion I betcha they will be sending items back to the Distribution Centre too (not just putting back on the local store shelves).

      • +2

Many of the cheap items (e.g. food, toiletries) are the kind of thing that they shouldn't even be restocking anyway, due to sanitary/tampering reasons.

        • I thought the same and what better than refund exclusions they wrote.

    • Was this by call or by email ?

      • They called.

        • The Warehouse Police force.

So, what are you going to do?

          • +3

@wowbigdeal: Partner called back but the person who phoned her wasn't available. Heyyy, she tried šŸ¤·šŸ˜„

            • +4

@Wakrak: tell them to click and collect it at your place.

    • šŸ˜please tell me not taking them back

    • +4

I am gobsmacked they asked to return the items!!! I pray they phone me I got a few suggestions as to how to get a return of my items as some have been eaten and already converted to poo.I did get a call from Warehouse Money asking why the strange activity on my card, she was well impressed of the middle of the night purchases of choccy blocks for 30c. I offered to send her one.

    • +1

You are joking. I'm no lawyer, but surely once possession is transferred the sale is complete.

What if I sold something on TradeMe, refunded the buyer, then asked them to return my property?

Long live the incompetence at The Warehouse Group of companies. Sometimes we are the beneficiaries and sometimes we are not.

Another day another mistake with TheMarket's XMAS coupon allowing 5% off PS5 consoles.

    Lucky customer example:
    https://twitter.com/helloimtofu/status/1466169398226391042?tā€¦

    Terms and conditions:
Excludes purchases of alcohol, Apple products, R18 games, PlayStation 5 consoles,ā€Ædonationsā€Æand shipping costs (if applicable).

    • Indeed, i also used the same coupon to score a ps5 for $778 and order is currently "Confirmed" so i assume it will be honoured..

      • There's the possibility the 5% off was intended but the T&Cs haven't been rewritten.

        • There wouldn't be much point in that, though, given how fast the PS5 sells out.

          • @Detruire: A worthy companion to your LG 65" C1.

Oops! Showing my own incompetence and meant to reply to Ytrewq. Just noticed qwerty backwards.

            • @Peter Wyngarde: Definitely will be, and yeah i've been meaning to change my username..

    • Wonder what the cost would have come to with 5% off + 2% cashback + ZIP Promo as iirc they can all be stacked

      • I guess the difference is there's enough margin to wear the mistake on the PS5 console. Versus the $5.01+ items where the $5.00 off discounts most of the product price and results in loss.

  • Looks like The Warehouse Group legal team wrote this email.

Iā€™d just like to say this thread has been a great time. Cheers for the ride fellow Cheapies!

  • Lmao reading this thread is hilarious. I only got 4 orders of weetbix bites in before they fixed it, but when we went down and collected them this morning they gave us 5. Guess they were feeling generous?

  • +2

Sorry to be a downer, but if you collected the goods already then it's important for you to understand your legal position (I think s27 of the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017). I was hoping they wouldn't go as far as asking people to return a ~$5 item, but unfortunately TWG legal may have decided that the best use of their time is to chase up a few random Cheapies members. If a return is necessary then insist on sending it back at their cost (which would make it very uneconomic for them).

If you realise a mistake after the sale, then you canā€™t ask the customer to pay extra ā€“ unless the customer knew there was a mistake and the price was considerably less than it should have been.

For example, if a shop assistant sold a jumper at $30, only realising later that it should have been $40, he canā€™t ask the customer to pay more.

However, if a salesperson sold a $500 television to a customer but accidentally charged only $50 to her Eftpos card, then the customer can be asked to make up the difference.

But if the shop discovers the mistake after you've made the purchase, it generally can't then ask you to pay more. By then, you have a contract.

The only exception is if you knew the price was a mistake, but took advantage of it anyway. Under the Contract and Commercial Law Act, a court could require you to pay the correct price. For example, you go to buy a jacket for $300, but the shop assistant only types $30 into the eftpos machine. You notice this but continue with the purchase, hoping to get away with it. If the shop contacts you later once they realise the mistake you have to pay them the difference.

ā€œif you knew the price was a mistake, but took advantage of it anywayā€

That part is tough. Yes this had the signs of a mistake, but there was no way of knowing until The Warehouse removed the automatic discount.

      • +1

I don't know if this is some sort of glitch or just The Warehouse saying "merry christmas!".

You covered yourself with the first comment

    • Does an automated website count as a salesperson?

The discount was described as click and collect incentive or something, so you could argue that the discount offered agreed with how your order proceeded.

  • I pick up 3/4 of my order and my partner pick up 3/3 order with no problem, they emailed us said ready to pickup, we didn't place any order with duplicate same item, just 1 of each, maybe they check each order manually when you have a lots of duplicate order of the same items?

  • +1

So they refunded all the orders I already collected. I'm guessing I'll get a phone call today to return the items. Trouble is, all of the items have been opened and used, and in some cases, completely consumed (I'm looking at you, Whittakers chocolate slab). Sooo… guess I'll be returning some empty/half-empty packaging.

    • +1

Send them back their money in coins

      • +1

Ask for them to send a box + courier label to return the items, send the box back with payment in 10c coins

  • +1

My northlands orders have now been refunded.. and personally if they ask me to return i'll offer to return their refunds back but not the products..

    • I only made 3 orders at Northlands - one under an account and two as guests.
One of my guest orders says it's ready for pickup (Whittakers block) so I'm going to try that today.
The other two orders have been debited from the credit card but still showing as pending so will see what happens with those two.

      • Did you receive the Ready for collection notification before or after The Warehouse cancelled and refunded the orders?

        • I just collected my Whittakerā€™s block now.
          No problem at all.
The fact my other two orders are still ā€˜pendingā€™ though makes me think they may not be processed.
Still rather have the chocolate than the cat food (other two orders) any day!

          • @bigcheese: I received Ready for collection emails for three in the morning and one in the afternoon at two stores. I was waiting on the outstanding orders before collecting so did nothing. I received the cancellation email and refunds for all orders. I assume if I go and attempt to collect the four orders then I will be told that they are cancelled and refunded.

            • @Peter Wyngarde: It really is a mess how this is playing out.
Iā€™m assuming that you will be told the orders are cancelled if you try and collect them.

              • @bigcheese: I totally agree they have made a bad situation worse by treating orders/people inconsistently.

  • everything on cc reversed.

  • My partners 3 orders at belfast that were made just before this was fixed are now ready for collection .. lmao

  • I picked up my 8 orders, the next day they emailed me saying they have cancelled all my orders and refunded me. Too funny

    • +1

Their processes and systems are basically a mess…haha, but they are still making record profits, probably don't really care

      • costco and amazon taking way too long.

      • Yet treat there staff like shit

  • Wow, having not heard anything since ordering, I just got one of my "ready for collection" emails this evening! I only ordered 4 items, no refund or official retraction emails yet. They must have had trouble running a report to find and cancel all the Cheapies orders, or maybe they are letting it slip if you only ordered a few things.

    • Might be that they didn't have those items in-stock too. I'm waiting for an order to be ready for collection here in Hamilton, but didn't realise that that store doesn't have white electrical tape readily available.

  • Interestingly I went to pick up my orders days ago and they refused, saying I'd be refunded. But here we are, days later, with no refund…

    • Have you tried picking up again? Maybe a different person will let you pick up…haha

  • I just picked one order up last night: a box of WB bites. The cardboard box they shipped it to the store in was large enough to fit at least 4 boxes, and the box and packing material probably cost them the $0.30 I paid.

No confirmation or retraction/refund yet on the other orders.

    • It's a bit like that eh. Just picked up an order yesterday (white electrical tape, foaming soap) and the box was 2/3rds empty.

  • Finally collected my last two orders.
I think the delay with mine was that my local store was out of stock and it had to get sent from Auckland.
Must have been in such a rush to order I didnā€™t check the stock status first.

    • Partner just picked one up today too. From the same store that cancelled many of her other orders.

      • How many of your orders ended up being honoured compared to cancelled?

        • I ordered from two different stores. Hamilton CBD: 2/2 collected. Hillcrest: 0/8, all cancelled.
Partner: Hamilton CBD: 1/1 collected. Hillcrest: 2 collected, 5 cancelled.

          • @Wakrak: I guess you will be staying away from Hillcrest then in the future?

            • @bigcheese: Nah. Still all good when using that other offer šŸ˜„

          • @Wakrak: I still have 1 order said proceesing, it's been almost 2 weeks now

            • @doubledippps: My order stayed processing until just a couple of days ago. I then collected with no issues.
If itā€™s still saying that now rather than cancelled then I would say you will get what you ordered itā€™s just likely out of stock.
Have a look on the app to see if itā€™s in stock anywhere in the country.

  • Did anyone manage to pick up anything from Auckland CBD store, new market store?
