Premium Everyday Plan Health Insurance for The Price of Standard Plan for 12 Months (New Customers Only) @ nib

10

Get Premium Everyday cover for the first 12 months for the Price of Standard Cover.

To be eligible you must:

  • Be a new nib customer (i.e. not an existing nib customer on 26 January 2022);
  • Submit an application for any new nib Premium Everyday cover plan or any new Hospital plan where that is taken out in conjunction with any new Premium Everyday cover via the nib NZ Ltd (“nib”) website (nib.co.nz) or by calling 0800 123 642 (and selecting option 4) between 27 January 2022 and 27 April 2022 (“Eligible Policy”).

The discount will be equal to the difference in cost between Standard and Premium Everyday cover for one year (12 months), being $404.50 for each adult (21 years old or over) or $202.50 for each child (20 years old or under). The discount applies for each Eligible Person insured under the Eligible Policy (“Offer”) subject to these terms and conditions.

  • Waiting periods and benefit limits apply.

Important Points:
I'm posting this more as an FYI for anyone that might be considering health insurance and/or changing provider.
The premium you pay will vary depending on a number of factors such as age, sex, smoker or non-smoker
Note the waiting periods before you are able to claim - these are listed under the Everyday Cover Policy Document starting on page 10.

At the expiry of the 12 months, i.e. on the first anniversary of your Eligible Policy, unless you have elected to cancel the Everyday cover before this time, Premium Everyday cover premiums will be charged at the then current pricing. You will continue to be charged on the payment cycle you have chosen (Weekly/fortnightly/monthly/quarterly/annually). nib will contact you using your preferred method of communication 30 days before your premiums are due to change to advise your new premiums.

The quoting system seems to jump to their 'Hospital Plan' so I found the easiest way to get an online quote is to:

  • Choose 'Compare Plans' at the top of the link in the deal.
  • Then choose 'Everyday plan' before the 'Get a Quote' option.

The offer is good until 27th April 2022 so plenty of time to get quotes and compare before you make your mind up.

Hopefully of benefit to someone.

  • I've only heard of bad experiences with NIB.

    • We have been with nib for years and never had any problems with claims but like everything our experiences are all different.
This is just another option for people to look at and make their own mind up.

      • Yup, just wanted to share.

        • Yeah health insurance can be a nightmare and you do hear some horror stories.
The most important thing is that people take their time and look at several options before making an informed decision.

          • @bigcheese: That's where I think most people go wrong; they don't understand what it is they're actually buying. But I also think it's designed that way.

            • @ABCDEFG: Quite a few people seem to get medical insurance with the thinking of covering for their pre-existing conditions, only to realise at pre-approval time that it is in fact not covered. As with many other type of insurance, need to read the policy to comprehend what coverage there is.

              • @CarterNZ: Or worse, don't declare their pre-existing conditions and then get declined when they make a claim.

  • We have been with NIB for 6 years now. We had very good experience with them we pay about 1,700 a year family of four.
