  • Has anyone tried these? Seems quiet pricey for 1 brush every 3 months.

    • nah, never tried from here. seems pricey because of it being environmentally friendly by being compostable. I'd reccomend trying the trial, but for me I'll probably cancel my subscription after my brushes arrive and keep using my electric toothbrush after I use the free trial ones.

      • seeing as a decent electric toothbrush from oral b is cheaper (as the subscription adds up), and also replacement toothbrush heads are dirt cheap from aliexpress

        • good idea! I used to buy ridiculously expensive brush heads from local stores. How could I fogget aliexpress?

          • +1

@freeocha: haha and if you wanna do it the true cheapies way, when you sign up an aliexpress account you can get the oral b toothbrush head 8 pack for 0.01NZD delivered as a special 'new user' offer - and it does deliver! we've been buying toothbrush heads from aliexpress for years now as it's just too expensive to buy the branded ones for 5 people….

            • @kiwiicheapies: I think the 'new user' 0.01NZD sale is only avaliable to users who sign up through the app though

              • @kiwiicheapies: For 0.01c I might just do that.
Sounds a pretty good deal to me!

                • @bigcheese: there's typically other items you can get for 1 cent, you'll have to look and see. a lot of it I just avoid cause it's usually just junk thats mass produced and goes straight in the bin.
The toothbrush heads on the other hand are always good quality and seem much like the original branded ones.

      • Can’t seem to find how many will they ship in the first trial order. Will give this one a try - thanks for sharing
        Cheers

        • not sure either… will have to wait and see.. still free so can't complain!

          • @kiwiicheapies: How many did you order?

            • @AssPav: I myself only got the one subscription. I didn't get any prompt on how many toothbrushes as I don't think it's an option to choose. I'm assuming the free trial sends you one toothbrush that you use for the month.

              • @kiwiicheapies: Hi, after subscription do you get any message from them, I didn't get any confirmation.

                • @scrappy-doo: yeah, after I had started my subscription I got the email following:

Welcome to your 30 day trial.
                  Hey there,

                  Congratulations!
We will get your toothbrush ready for shipping so you can get started with your trial straight away. We are certain that you will love it.

        • I think on their trial page, it says that they will ship 1 bamboo toothbrush of your choice (soft or ultra soft - if ultra-soft, color will be random).

          • @dealhunters: Can't see where it says the quantity.
You can choose up to 6 when you click continue.
Wonder if you can get a 1 month trail for 6 people: ie get 6 at once.

            • @AssPav: I didn't see this… did you choose 6?

              • @kiwiicheapies: Haven't bought yet, was waiting to see if anyone else has done it.

                • @AssPav: I don't think anyone else got the option to choose how many they want, so make sure its still part of the promotion if you do proceed!

  • First time I've seen a toothbrush subscription. Their prices are way too high but they can't do much about it since they don't have scale. Colgate sells a very similar toothbrush for a lot less. The trial is more like one free toothbrush, which you can also get through their returns policy. It's interesting they let you add more than one free toothbrush. I used to use electric but now I use amway toothbrushes which I have found to be massively superior to everything else. Their website has some flaws

Also, it's unclear whether they will ship the order before the trial ends which could be a problem
    https://www.simplygreat.co.nz/our-subscriptions#:~:text=When…

    • I'm sure the free trial would mean that we would be able to try their toothbrush for free or else there is entirely no point in running this promo, let alone the costs to advertise this promo they are running with the free trials.

Also it states the following in their e-mail: We will get your toothbrush ready for shipping so you can get started with your trial straight away.

Assuming this is meaning they are sending the toothbrush right away so they keep their word on the free trial they are running.

As for their website, I do find it extremely dumb that I hadn't seen the fact that they only tell you it's per year, but it makes more sense to be charged 30/ year for these toothbrushes. Even though I am quite young (and may even be the youngest cheapies user at 16y/o) I am hating these new subscription services where almost everything is a monthly/ annual subscription to 'appeal to my generation'. It's honestly disappointing that when you pay a hefty price for something like an Arlo security camera, you have to buy a subscription on top to actually use the product. We don't need these subscriptions. For simplygreat, I'm quite unsure on how many sales they would actually be making from these products, as a manual Colgate toothbrush is always $1.50 at paknsave, which low prices are a higher priority for most people, especially in a toothbrush brand market
Anyways, all in all I'm trying to say that I'll probably cancel my subscription as soon as it arrives, and I'll stick to my Aliexpress 0.01c oral b replacement toothbrush heads :)

    • Tooth Crush also does a bamboo toothbrush subscription. I got it as a gift so idk how much it costs, but quite enjoyed it

    • I think their target market are the kiwi sustainability and green eco focused crowd who are willing to pay the higher cost to preserve the environment. They are those that pride themselves in saving the world through the little things; I know a few myself.

It's great idea and all except even if one was wiling to pay for an overpriced premium toothbrush, it doesn't resolve the other forms of other pollution and environmental damage caused by fishing, oil and coal etc. particularly the bulging plastic/ gigantic garbage patch in the ocean off the shores of USA

  • Received mine today, ordered 2 but only got sent one. The toothbrush isn't too bad but definitely wouldn't pay $30 for it.

    • yeah did think 30 dollars for it is a bit crazy… that's good that you've received them, I haven't just yet. Make sure you cancel your subscription if you aren't planning on continuing it!
