      • i needed a lawnmower so i purchased the cheapest one, cost around 200

  • I tried to get an Amex. They wanted me to get a justice of the peace to authenticate my documents. Far too much trouble.

    • What the heck? Is this still a thing? How long ago was this?

      • Back in December 2021.

        • Does this happen with everyone or because of your employment type? Was thinking about getting an Amex but seems a bit of a hassle tbh.

@CheapJimmy: Not sure, I gave up. I'm not running around town and jumping through hoops for a credit card. I have an existing Mastercard which works just fine.

          • @CheapJimmy: I got a card last week. nothing of that sort.
They didn't ask for any documents at all to verify anything - just rang me to verify my details/address and read me some t&cs

  • Just went through the same, but am friends with a lawyer so wasn't much trouble to go see her and get the authentication done that way.
