Dell would be better for IPS and 3yr warranty if you can stretch a bit more

That Dell is QHD ie 1440p
This Dahua is 4K so not a direct alternative, depends on your needs

      • There's Dell 27 4K UHD Monitors in the comments but yeah ~150 difference for IPS and 3yr warranty

        • Dell delivery not happening before August

  • Any thoughts about using that monitor as secondary screen for code development? I never had a 28' screen to work with, seems pretty big to be in front of.

It looks a good deal since I don't need anything fancy like low response time or Color fidelity

    • It's like with TVs. Once you go that big and that high resolution you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. And you will hate going back to anything smaller. In fact, get two of them ;)

      • Once you go Dual you can never go back!

    • Just a heads up.

I go the monitor, the image itself is not bad, but black color looks gray, the only configuration available are contrast, brightness and warmth.

Best setup seems to be text mode, that pretty much reduces brightness to a level that makes black become black.

Overall, I would give it a 5. 6 because I don't need anything fancy to have SSH and VScode open. 7 because it was only $300 for 28 inches.

I would be frustrated if I was up for gaming/movies

I’ve got that monitor. Ordered from Amazon about a year ago. It’s a good monitor and great value. Actually mine is F420. Not sure the difference but should be close.

I’m for the money it’s a great buy. However it does have some issues. Here is my Amazon review. With some minor edits

Monitor came packaged well in a large box. Putting the monitor together was easy, and the support stand feels very sturdy. The monitor basically was plug and play, and works very well with 4K resolution from my macbook pro.

The stand does stick back quite far and is quite high, so positioning the monitor on my desk has proved to be a balancing act. and the monitor is closer to me than I would prefer. Might have to buy a Vesa Mounting arm instead.

Also the bottom bezel is larger than the photos. It’s ok but not nearly as small as in the photos

There was zero paperwork in the box, and cant seem to find a manual online. So you have to put this together based on logic (Not hard with 4 philips screws). But still trying to figure out the on screen menu. Trying to see if I can put the monitor in sleep mode after a certain time. Note. I can not seem to find a sleep mode and this still annoys me a year later

Overall, I like the monitor for its clear vision and value. Just a couple fo things to consider

  • I bought this last time around.
Screen seemed to be a solid build and the picture was nice. However …
First one had a permanent vertical line which appeared once the screen warmed up (after 5 mins).
Second one had a fault where it wouldn't go into sleep mode (I didn't want "no signal" burnt on the screen!).
I ended up getting a refund and bought the Dell 27" S2722QC for ~$147 more (still waiting to receive).
ExtremePC were really good about it.
Maybe I was just unlucky with the 2x screens I tried 🤷‍♂️
