  • You can get a free trail for Amazon Prime. You might need to use an Australian address.

  • +1

I have this and I can tell you guys it was the best money I've ever spent!

  • Australian address required for prime trial, right? Any recommendations on getting around this?

    • Australian address generator. No issues yet, as it's only used for the billing address. YMMV

    • Any random address should be fine as far as I know.

We bought this 2 yrs ago. Its used everyday. Best thing about this is the steel inner pot. None of that nonstick bs.

Very easy to cook pretty much anything, except for frying stuff.

  • +1

This is a good price. The best price I’ve seen is for the 8L Duo Nova from Living & Giving back in April, was just under $200.

I have the 8L mainly for making stock for Pho and other noodle soups, great investment!

    • We use our for pho as well

  • I got another $10 AUD with code ETP10 by ordering though the Amazon app. I'm not sure if it's a combo with the Prime trial or just a new app user promo

    • I think that's for the new prime users.

  • Any info on warranty/returns policy for NZ please if ordered?

  • Should be covered by Amazon.

  • Highly recommend. This gets used everyday. Super easy to clean

  • Very good price, and good quality product. Better than a Crock Pot.

We have this model (bought for $180 a couple of years ago and i thought that was a good deal)

It's great for slow and fast cooking, strews, curries, rice etc.

Also, a great ranges of spares available like replacement seals, lids, inner pots.

The only real complaint is that there are no recipes supplied with it (even basic ones) so you need to use an App or internet to find how to cook stuff. Most of the recipes you find for this are American so often have to convert units, etc.

  • Does anyone knows if it makes loud noise (similar to old fashioned pressure cooker) during cooking?

    • +1

Hmm I’m not sure what an old fashioned pressure cooker sounds like but the instant pot only really makes a sound when you release the pressure (steam) at the end of cooking. During cooking there’s no noise. Maybe a slight ticking sound at the start as it’s coming up to pressure?

    • No noise during cooking. Pressure can be vented but that has to be done manually. I have never done. There is a bell which chimes at end of the set time. Not very loud but hearable over 15 feet or so.

  • Bought it! Was looking at Briscoes the other week at it but was a bit expensive then around $250.

    Anyone have some good recipes??

  • We paid 145 nzd delivered for mine.

Lately haven't seen it below 175nzd when delivered because we wanted to buy one for my mother in law. Ended up buying the 7L one for $205 nz delivered from living and giving last week on special.

I think 5.7L is a good size, don't accidently buy the 3L one because i think that would be too small.

  • With the amazon prime trial can you use it to access amazon us prime deals? Also for amazon au the perk with prime is access to prime deals because we don’t get the free shipping or other perks right?

    • Prime works for both regions. Yep, no free shipping for us, but you do get access to their streaming and game services (Twitch sub + free games and DLC). Prime day is this week, so it's worth jumping on the trial

      • That’s great. Thanks for answering I think I’ll sign up for trial now.

  • I got the same one (Duo 5.7L) on The Market back in Aug 2021 for $149.99 - $20.00 (TM refer friend voucher) = $129.99 with free delivery. Shipped from AU. It must have been a pricing error (-$100 less?) or something looking back but I just chanced it and was thought it seems good.. buy. Shouldof posted it up here at the time.

    • Nice. How is the experience so far?

      • Yeah it's been awesome. Like a slow cooker but 8hr = 45min. Have done all sorts mainly hearty stew with lamb/beef/chicken type things. It's the kind of appliance that makes me want a bigger kitchen or butlers pantry so I can have it out all the time haha.

    • Duo Nova is newer model than Duo. Slightly larger number of presets and better display.

  • Anyone know can 5.7 L fit a 2kg chicken or duck?

14% cashback tomorrow if you are interested and have not purchased yet, so about $130NZD total.

    • How does the cashback work ? Looking at the website it seems specific to ANZ cardholders only or can I do it with my Kiwibank card ?

      • Paypal

        • Ah I see thanks. Will give it a go tomorrow night.

          • @Marko93: If you get stuck, post a comment on the thread that Dunno linked.

          • @Marko93: Make sure you setup your free prime trial with an australian billing address first to make things easier on the day. Also turning off ad blockers at the time if you have them installed because they can mess with cashback tracking

            • +1

@Dunno: Yeah got the prime trial all set up and will probably jump on the PC for it so will disable the blockers for it cheers.

  • Anyone know a workaround to get a kindle Paperwhite from Amazon AU?

    • +1

Looks like it will only ship to an Aus address

    • out of stock for ages, I just bought the Kobo libra 2

    • Don't know if something has changed but I see that it is available for delivery to NZ. Don't have prime so can't test it in cart

      https://files.cheapies.nz/upload/4285/3643/88988d35-92af-45d…

      Edit : sorry wrong one.

    • I'm trying to buy now and on the cart it is showing as $146.54 and then when I go to make payment it comes up at $245.32 and I can't work out why? I'm confused.

      • Maybe you are not getting prime day price due to NZ address?

        • +1

It worked out okay with the NZ address. It was my first time order and once I entered the payment type the discounted amount showed up. I'll know better next time :)

Just wanted to also mentioned that their customer service is pretty good too. I purchased one for my mum and for some reason it stopped working. Came to the conclusion that the issue was with the unit itself. Made contact through the official Aussie website and they arranged a replacement with the NZ distributor. All done and sorted really quickly. Sent the old one back. It was under a year old but if you have any issues with it don’t hesitate to contact them! Haven’t had any issues with mine though and I use it more and have had it for longer.

  • Do these feel cheap? The negative reviews regarding the inner pot's coating peeling and the pressure seal failing really have me umming over this

    • Inner pot is stainless steel. Are you sure you looking at the same model?

      • Nope, a different model but still a stainless pot. I read reviews from multiple models to try and get a sense of the brand's quality

        • +1

Not sure on the reviews, but few of my friends have been using for a while almost daily without issues. Also, it has been extensively reviewed and regarded as best compared to other brands so I will go with that. Agree, you get bad ones sometimes. Don't think there is any coating on stainless pot, but I can't say until I get mine in 2 days.

    • It's stainless steel so there's no coating. I think you can get a non stick version but I wouldn't bother. You can just soak and scrub the steel.

Also because it's popular there's plenty of parts available (seals etc) so I prefer this over other pressure cookers. does what you want and not overpriced.

    • Received ours today, thinking it looks a bit overwhelming and not sure what to cook first. Have taken some beef out of the freezer to give that a go. Great to hear you're loving yours.

        • Sounds great, thank you :)
