Turn your private messaging on so someone can get hold of ya

My Account → Settings → messaging → ✓ Allow private messages

      • Thank you. Had no idea. But now I should be able to receive private messages. :)

    • Interested.

  • Want to get on this deal but I would be porting my two numbers from Spark. Spark require 30 days notice and suggest get Kogan to request the transfer 30 days in advance so that I'm not billed twice. Just spoke to to Kogan live chat and say this is not possible with them. Anyone got advice on how to get this done getting charged twice by Spark and Kogan?

    • I don't think you need your kogan plan active to port. Just activate when the port is done? Unless it takes longer than the end of sep in which case you will have a bit of overlap.

  • keen on a small … split

  • Hi All,

Can anyone on a Kogan plan tell me whether it is possible to setup call diversions? I was with Kogan for a while, but I don't recall if I could do that or not.

For example, on 2Degrees (and probably others) you can set your account / mobile number up so that calls that come in, and are not answered (you're line is 'busy' or offline / out of service) you can divert to another number (such as your office number) rather than going to your 2Degrees Voicemail.

I know that Skinny (as a counter-example) does not allow that.

The advantage of this (to me at least) is that all my voicemails end up in the one place (office voicemail) which are then emailed to me, rather than having them in two places (office voicemail and mobile voicemail), which makes it much easier as voicemails, emails, letters (which are scanned and emailed to me), and faxes (not many these days!) are all in my email inbox and trivial to manage.

    Thanks,

    Alan.

  • Anyone else having an issue with receiving 2FA text codes?

  • Hi, does anyone have a medium or large plan to sell? thanks

  • Just received my sim card and have tried 3 times to port my number. Has anyone else had trouble moving off of Skinny? I am certain that I am putting in the SIM ID correctly.

    • I haven’t ported from Skinny to Kogan for a couple of years now but from memory it was a pretty seamless process.
What error are you getting and at what stage of the porting process?
I presume you still have an active connection with Skinny, which you need in order to port?

      • My porting was successful this morning, after like 6 tries last night.

I cannot receive SMSs from 4 digit codes it seems now. Like I cannot get my 2 factor auth codes for certain logins. Have you had any trouble with this?

        • I believe that any porting requests after about 4:30pm (not entirely sure of the time) are never processed until the following morning. Maybe not Sat or Sun - again, not sure about that as I have always stayed away from weekend ports myself - never seen the point in deliberately making my own life potentially more difficult :-)

If you do it after the time (whatever it is), then you should get a porting notification at 8am, and the actual port normally happens around 10am.

Always worked that way for me, at least in the last (ten?) years, maybe a lot longer.

    • Some yarns about porting here (someone else having the same issues).

      https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=164&topicid=29…

      • I ported again today, and it worked first thing in the morning. However, I am met with a new problem. I can no longer receive SMS from 4 digit numbers. I cannot get my SMS verification code for a number of login services or order updates from shops like Warehouse or Spotlight.

I've tried contacting their support and they just say they don't support 4 digit numbers, but I have read on here that people are still able to receive these SMSs

        • That is scary !! I was going to port my number today !
Does that means that 2FA will not work anymore ??

          • @thesla: I just port my number and now I am freaking out because gmail SMS 2FA is not working anymore !! That means that my bank 2FA will not work too ??
            This is not cool !!

            • @thesla: Alright ! Working with Gmail now

              What happened:
              - Around noon: activate Kogan sim and transfer number (from Skinny)
              - Around 2pm: got email saying transfer successful
              - Around 3pm: test successful with SMS and calling, both sending and receiving to my wife. But Gmail 2FA not working.
              - I live chat with Kogan. Advised to follow this : https://help.koganmobile.co.nz/hc/en-us/articles/36003308621…
Still didn't work. But then they said that it take sometime for the full service to be transfered. This morning 10am, the Gmail 2FA can be received on my Kogan sim !!

Basically, just wait for a full working day for the full service to settle.

May be that is why we see a lot of post about having issue but nothing after, because one day after once the issue is sorted, people don't come back to update the forum ?

  • Has anyone from the deal last year been getting renewal emails saying your plan will renew in x days despite renewal being turned off on the account? Kogan support confirmed it was turned off but I've got 5 or 6 emails about it in 2 weeks

    ie

    Hi Dunno,

Your service for 0288xxxxxxx will automatically recharge tomorrow!

    • Yes, I have my kids on Kogan and got a similar number of emails despite the fact auto renewal was turned off.
I had the accounts loaded with a deleted Wise card anyway just in case but once I did the recharge voucher again this year it was fine.
Account valid for another year and no attempt made to charge the card.

    • yep, most weird were renewal emails about numbers that had already been ported to. The numbers originally on the kogan sims but got swapped with a ported number.

Anyone wanting a small plan who already has a sim? Due to unforeseen circumstances, I may have one extra.
