  • So if I choose Manurewa branch when signing up can I add 2x personal training package and use them at my local branch?

  • Another option to consider:

    CityFitness standard membership:

    • Black $13.99/wk

    Subsidised membership:1

    • Black 3 months $138.52 ($11.54ish)
    • Black 6 months $247.64 ($10.31ish)2

    1. CityFitness Papatoetoe pricing. 3 & 6 month memberships are based on "Black" membership pricing and benefits at $13.99 per week, and include the $49 join fee.

    2. I did $247.64 / 6 / 4 =

  • Has the price of gym memberships gone down? I remember them being closer to $20-$25 per week.

Yes and no. Usually the really cheap ones are about $5.99-$9.99 but you get what you pay for. There'll be direct debit fees and contract cancellation costs too. The larger chain gyms have these cheap access memberships just for the numbers. Smaller or lesser known gyms in my area can charge up to $30/week but give you access to extra classes, spas or pools etc. Personally I pay just under $20/week which gives me everything a normal gym would, with the added benefit of better weights, better bathrooms, not being overcrowded even at "peak" times, and no teens doing Tiktoks and getting upset when you walk in front of their camera.

Cityfitness has held this pricing for a long time. Others like ymca are closer to $25/week on a no contract plan.
