[Hamilton] Free Compost (BYO Container, Max 20L Per Person, While Stocks Last) @ Hamilton Organic Centre

140

From 9am-12pm on 5 November, you can bring any bin, bucket, box or container, up to 20L in volume, to the Wickham Street Hamilton Organic Centre and we will fill it with free Tronpost, while stocks last.

When you use your food waste bin, you are helping make Tronpost – that’s compost, made locally by Hamiltonians from green waste and kerbside food scraps.

In September, Hamiltonians prevented 320,000kg of food waste from going to landfill by using their food scraps bins. As a thank you, Hamilton City Council wants to give some of your food scraps back, for free, as a nutrient blast for your garden during spring.

If anyone is in the Thames area (or wants to travel) compost is always free if you self load. Or $5 to get them to fill a trailer with their digger. Thames transfer station.
9/10 times they have it. But occasionally they don't have any if it has been raided by the council for their gardens. So pays to ring first if you are travelling a distance or hiring a trailer.

Probably not as refined as the Hamilton stuff. It is made from the greenwaste dumped here. You can get chunks of wood, weedmat, stones, bit of rubbish etc in the mix. But it grows amazing veges.
