Good for larger quantities. Anything under 1kg? is slightly cheaper at New World

    • 100% agree. New World regularly has specials 200g bags for under $9. Yesterday I saw Pak n Save Westgate had a special on the 500g bags for $18.79.

Fresher - my last bag was roasted 2 days before I received it.

  • I don't think New World sells the full range so this deal is good if you prefer single origins.

It's also awesome that Supreme is the only coffee brand I've seen in supermarkets that is transparent and puts the roasted date on the bags (as opposed to a meaningless best before date). The obvious con of this is I've seen quite a few old bags of coffee on New World / PNS shelves, but if I see a relatively fresh date I always grab one for cold brew.

    • Good point

    • It's a known thing in the coffee industry that supermarkets dislike roast dates for this reason - it means they end up in that situation of not being able to clear old stock

Supreme would have have had to get a special deal with foodstuffs to allow this, it isn't uncommon for roasters around the world to print two sets of labelling, one with roast dates for direct / channel sales and one with best before for supermarket sales

      • I noticed that a few months after their entry into New World supermarkets, they changed their packaging so that the roast date appeared on the back when the coffee was properly faced on the shelf (previously the roast date was on the front). This may have been a compromise they made.

  • How do you guys store your coffee beans? Say a 1kg bag. Just put it in a Sistema container or something more specific?
