YouTube Premium: Monthly TRY₺29.99 (~NZ$2.60), Annual TRY₺299.99 (~NZ$26) @ YouTube Turkey (VPN Required to Sign Up)

270

Recently I was unable to renew my YouTube Premium subscription in Argentina because of the VISA card issue, but I just found out that you can now get it cheaper in Turkey. Moreover, you can subscribe to the annual plan with basically 2 months free and pay with a NZ credit card.

The only thing that is required to set this up is a VPN (either paid or free) that can connect to a Turkey IP address.

My last payment for family plan via Turkey was $5.27

Can you write a guide OP so that others know what to do sorted.

    • Thanks for the instruction 😊

  • +3

Isn't India cheaper…? My last payment was $3.77 for family plan.

Do you need an Indian credit card? I remember that it failed at payment step because I was using NZ credit card

      • +2

        Using my westpac credit card.

    • +1

Yup. It's 189 INR for the family plan via India (~$3.70). Works fine on my ASB Visa Debit.

      • Can you purchase an entire year on the family plan in India?

        • No. It's monthly only. You can purchase individual plan for a year.

          • @ace310: how does this india subscription work? Just follow the same steps as above?

            • @Matrixx: Mostly same, but I believe it has become more difficult on which card you can use. I did it a while back and don't remember exact steps right now.

Here is the guide you can try.

            • @Matrixx: Sorry followed this guide I think. Never used amazon account.
              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770361

Basically, I created a google payment profile for india using a spare android phone I had. Linked the westpac card to it and subscribed youtube family plan. It's been working since a while now.

  • Same, I couldn’t use my CC with Argentina suddenly. Really odd as I was trying for about 30 minutes to sign up in Turkey. Nik minute I ended up to YT India gave me rupee price. For the monthly one it didn’t work but the annual one my ASB Visa worked.

  • Got my ANZ Visa to work on my Argentina family plan, $5.77 charged.

    • How did you get your ANZ Visa work on the Argentina family plan? Mine stopped working since January and I had to switch to Westpac Mastercard.

      • Mine couldn't renew.
Then I cancelled my family plan, and was hoping to join again using Turkey.
Then had issues with getting Turkey to work.
So just out of curiosity, just try my luck again with the same card on Argentina VPN, and it was renewed, and confirmed my CC was charged.

  • I couldn't get my Indian account to renew with existing Kiwibank Visa.

Finally got Wise card, went straight through, cost $25.80 for single annual subscription.

Nord doesn't do India anymore, did free trial on IP Vanish.

  • Anyone still managed to get a new YT Premium via Turkey, Philippine or India? Can you please share how you managed to join? Tried several ways but nothing worked :(

    • I've detailed the process I did in a post below. :)

  • +1

Just finished the whole process now.

    • Got a new wise digital card dedicated for VPN
    • signed up for 1 month Nord VPN using one of my shopping email accounts and the wise card
    • VPN'ed to Turkey
    • went to the YT Premium renewal page and saw the TRY price.
    • proceeded with transaction using another digital card for other purchases.
    • done

    Todo:
    - money back from Nord

    • D@Japo32: Wow! Do you need a turkey address for payment or your NZ address would do? Did you have to change your google pay account country to trukey? Thanks

      • +1

No to both. :D My google pay address was NZ when I did the process.

  • Also TRY₺19.49 ~NZD$1.20 for students.

    • How do you get turkey student price? Do you need some sort of id?

      • Travel to Turkey (VPN) and go to YouTube.com/premium/student

  • Any tips on VPN issues? I can't get Windscribe to get me there (whatsmyIP tells me I'm landing in Saudi Arabia all the time!) and I tried UrbanVPN as well but that won't even load the page

  • Hey guys has anyone had trouble updating their payment information? It won't accept my Visa debit card or my partners Visa card anymore :(

  • I cancelled my Indian youtube subscription to switch to turkey one and damn, now youtube doesnt accept my card, keeps saying: payment declined. I have tried adding turkey profile already on my payment but still no luck. Tried anz visa debit and also wise try currency digital card

  • do you need to use youtube via turkey on phones and computers when watching videos or just use as normal? thanks

  • Anyone have luck in getting turkey annual subs renewed? I get payment declined of country identification

  • anyone got this working again?

  • This has been working for me until a few days ago.
My OlduBil payment got declined by Google.

When I went to YouTube re-sign up, despite using VPN, I got the error: "We couldn't verify your country. "

  • Not sure if this is related to the issues people are having with billing but they just put the prices up again. My asb card still seems to he accepted.

  • +1

Ever since the billing issue I've paid with Thai Baht - significantly more expensive than Turkish but it works with Wise and doesn't require SMS authentication

  • Just done some reading on Reddit. Found OlduBil seems to be getting blocked due to a new regulation issued by the Central Bank of Türkiye, where anonymous cards can only be used on trust seal Turkısh websites.

Kind of sucks. P.S. If you have money stuck in your account people are converting it to gift cards etc…

  • Dam, my annual sub just finished and tried renewing, I don't think this is working anymore. Getting error 'couldn't very your country'. Same as the people on Ozbargain too :(

    (using NordVPN)

    • Just tried surfshark and getting the same issue. "We couldn’t verify your country"

      • I asked my sister who lives in the Philippines to pay for my account. :D So a bit of manual work.

        • Nice lol, I managed to get it working with Malaysia earlier in the month, but just received an email today saying its going to be cancelled because they 'believe my sign up country is inaccurate'

          • @genesis: Wow they're really on it eh? Did you pay with an NZ card or through Wise?

            • @Japo32: Yep not sure what I'm gonna do after this month ends lol

None of the NZ cards worked, so I did it through a Visa Prezzy card.

  • I just signed up using these theses for family with Türkiye lets see how long it lasts!
