Pricematch done with warehouse app online. Thanks.
How do you price-match using the app?
Ah - thanks.
I thought you could only price-match in person in-store now - has that reverted?
@Alan6984: That’s what I thought too so not sure what the go is there.
@Wakrak: Food: in-store only.
Non-food: still fine via app.
@sunshinenz: Didn't know that - thanks for the clarification!
so it's come to this, where we are posting toilet rolls as cheapies deals, man things have really gotten bad :D
Funny you should say, this sounds like me doing the groceries back in argentina, chansing the specials on every supermarket to make the ends meet, its not as bad as that but it certainly resembles.
I needed this! thanks OP!
I remember when the 32 pack soft touch was $10 at TWH, 40% increase weh
This is Consumer NZ's toilet paper review
Thanks bro, price matched in the app
Limit two packs at The Warehouse
Just saw the pricing at PaknSave Wairau: Purex Tissue Mega 6/12s $6.99
Not sure if it's the same one as this one or the longer roll?
Thats the x2 roll. 6 mega is equivalent to 13 std rolls
Mega Long is the one I go for. 450 sheets, and it isn't a bullshit flimsy 450 sheets. Other brands' long rolls are around 270 sheets
Recently this is always out of stock at my local
Only 2ply?! you bloody savages! 😉
came here to say this. Come on, who even uses 2 ply yeow
3ply and fold once - this is the way
This is the way
One fold !? I ain't shaking your hand
3ply Kirkland and I use one sheet lol that's how cheap I am. To be fair, they are great quality paper. I bought them when they were $39.99 now almost $50 ffs.
You can't spare a square?
@Plug: when they ban vapes, kids will be ram raiding for toilet paper instead
On the flipside, this deal still seems expensive to me considering you could get Kiwisoft 18 pack 180 sheets for $4.49 at West Auckland Pak'nSaves last 2 weeks so only $0.00138580246 per sheet compared to this $0.00208125. And you can get their Value 12 pack 180 for $3.29 ($0.00152314814) or the 40 pack 150 sheet $9.59 all the time ($0.0015983333) depending on store.
I always thought the kiwisoft ones tear easily? Is purex any different?
Kiwisoft probably easier than the more expensive lines but it's just toilet paper so I don't care. Purex, no idea, never bought it given as mentioned below it's always seemed expensive.
Mind you I only recently bought Kiwisoft again. I've been using EarthSmart for 1-2 years. (I know when I bought it but fairly sure I still had some left over so not sure when I started using it. I think I switch between initially anyway). I bought at least 15 packs of 6 rolls double length EarthSmart (also 2 ply Cottonsoft but their recycled paper range) at Pak'nSave when they were 3 for $5. I think they were getting rid of them because they were switching to paper packaging.
This was in July 2021 between lockdowns and there were no limits, but since it was after the toilet paper crazes I still found it a bit funny to be buying so many. But got over it, I mean it was the sort of thing I would have down pre-COVID. In any case I saw at least 2 other people buying 12. (My flatmate did joke is there a new lockdown I missed?) I still have 2 packs of 6 rolls but started to look out again since best way to be a Cheapie is to wait a few months if needed for the best special 😉
Although I may have made a mistake. I did buy the the Kiwisoft 18 pack for $4.49 but I made a mistake in my mental calculation was thinking it's cheaper than $2.99 for 12 pack then suddenly realised after I bought it it isn't. Still I suspect it's only ~$1 at most I spent extra (only bought 2).
Thanks bought 2! Btw why has the price of toilet paper sky rocketed since covid? Before covid these were like $5.
Used to 3 manufacturers, now there is 2. Plus the inflation on top.
When could you get Purex 24 rolls for $5? My memory is you were semi regularly able to get Kiwisoft 12 pack for $2.49 (i.e. same price as 24 for $5 although sheet count varied over time) or 18 pack for $3.49 if you were really luck, but Purex was always more expensive AFAIK. E.g. this from 2016 https://www.cheapies.nz/node/8002 had the 12 pack for $3.90 at a Countdown two day sale. It's Countdown so although one of their 2 day sales which did often have good prices, I could imagine Pak'nSave going down to $3.49. Perhaps $2.99 in rare instances. But $2.49 sounds unlikely to me. No commentators said the Purex deal was crap (although there weren't really any comments comparing to Pak'nSave prices).
Looking further, this seems to be the best I could find https://www.cheapies.nz/node/2428 $5 for a 16 pack albeit all of the prices pre 2020 are from Countdown sales. There was an 24 pack deal for $8 in one of their day sales https://www.cheapies.nz/node/8538 showing it wasn't just that the 12 and 16 packs were a terrible price.
May I recommend you get a Bidet sprayer to cut down toilet paper usage significantly
No wonder this gets downvoted hahahhahahaha - dont worry Hayce.. let the price creep up and will see spending one time $250 vs buying everytime - which wins. Honestly there are many people I know started installing bidets for the same reason of price and no… not all are asian too.. but compared to before there are lot's a stores keeping these on stock compared to the time when you have to order before at any bunnings/mitre10 for ref.
After visiting Asia I did start to question how we use paper to clean up in our society.
Smearing around until it looks clean is pretty basic gross compared to giving it a proper hose down, and then using a small amount of paper just to dry the area afterward.
You just need a wet wipe. You could keep a pump bottle of water in the toilet
Not all bidet costs that much. It also depends on the toilet. I have this since few years and no issues ever.
We originally got the same type from Aliexpress, but just recently the hose started leaking and we opted to replace with the one from mitre 10 and although it looks the same on picture (and more expensive $55) it is better quality with a shorter hose and better washers. Only downside is it doesn't come with the hook for the hose to hang drill-free on the toilet.
Oh I think I got that amount from a friend who installed it recently - bidet and plumber fitting and associated costs.. $55 if you are DIY is definitely worth only 3 packs of 24 rolls and lasts for years compared to the cost
@thunder02dragon: Are you talking about some other toilet paper? $55 would be about 5.5 packs of these 24 rolls not 3 packs.
@Nil Einne: My cost calculation was based on typical price of $15-$17 per 24 rolls pack
@thunder02dragon: I don't buy Purex so I don't really know but it seems to be from postings these deals are regularly enough 2x24 pack should last between deals unless you have a massive family or flat; so not sure if true Cheapies should be anything close to that price
Not legal to install without an expensive backflow prevention valve
The one I recommended from mitre10
https://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/nouveau-bidet-sprayer-set-5-p…
It came with a backflow preventer. Which surprised me cause I had googled them before and they weren’t cheap
Buy from AliExpress for about $25 to $30 including shipping. It takes a week to arrive. Bought one last year and working good.
Why so much preference in paper to wipe your butt?
Bidet intensifies
Perfect timing as we'd just run out of the last two packets from the last deal. Cheers Wakrak!
