  • Those refurb deals look nasty. 90 day warranty only.

I think you'd want to opt for the deals that offer an additional controller. The games will come and go over time.

PS4 seems gruntier, but I'm seriously considering Xbox One to replace my PS3, as it works much more nicely with my Harmony remote control setup. PS4 can't even be turned on by a remote, so is quite a step down in integration terms over the PS3.

Both are quite old now though, so I'm surprised they're still holding their value this much. Xbox one is now 2 years old?

Xbox one recently got the Windows 10 update also, so a bit of a fresher interface now by all accounts.

I've got an Xbox One and it works pretty well as an AIO entertainment console. Walk in the door and say "Xbox On" and the TV, Surround Sound, Xbox, etc all turn on and are all set and ready.

      • Yeah, the PS4 seems to have focussed mostly on the gaming side of things again now, having once aimed for the all in one entertainment unit. I guess that's fair, given smart TV's now house much of what the PS3 brought originally.

That said though, not having an optical sensor on the PS4, and not allowing anything external to turn it on has really stuffed my ideas to upgrade from the PS3.

How are people finding the Xbox One now, have you done the Windows 10 update?

It seems underpowered compared to the PS4, and it's now two years old.

Depends on what you mean by underpowered. Just because a couple of 3rd party games run the game at a lower resolution is not the end of the world that some sites will make you believe, it still looks great … most Xbox one 1st party games run at 1080. It is stupid the they released it underpowered but Ps4 is only slightly gruntier. Both suck vs PC but the developers will optimise over time. Look how much they could squeeze out of ps3 and xbox360 over the years.

I have both and definitely use Xbox one more as it has the exclusives I want to play, halo, gears, forza, dance central…lol :)… only thing I'm waiting for on PS4 is uncharted otherwise most 3rd party games are on both consoles and I prefer Xbox live for multiplayer.

Also Xbox one can stream to my pc so I can still game when someone else in family is watching TV :) and backwards compatibility is icing on the cake since I have a good 360 catalogue.

  • Crazy deals…most of the games added seem to be GTA V, forza6, sunset overdrive, forza 2. And some of the bundles come with extra controller too.

  • go with the PS4… wait till you play rocket league
