If I want/need the odd SIM with data loaded I buy the Spark 1.5GB SIM @ pbtech for $3.99 each
    https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MPPSPA119373/Spark-3-in-1-P…

That beign said it's data only, no txt/calls.

Also worth checking retailer website listings for SIM cards by price online as a few times a year a retailer will list SIMs for $1 to clear them even if they are $19/$30 packs etc which are still valid for 12-24 months or WarehouseMobile SIM's for $1 sometimes with $5 credit on them.

    https://www.kogan.com/nz/buy/kogan-mobile-prepay-mobile-star… $5 starter pack with 15GB Data + calls/texts for 30 days.

    • Why do retailers clear sim card? Wont they have to replace them with new stock? Do they have expiry date? Or is it a contractual agreement with the sim card manufacturers?

      • I don't know, I've had SIM's purchased at clearance that worked fine activating 18 months later..

      • Not sure about 2degrees but the likes of Kogan and One definitely have expiry dates printed on the SIM card.
