  • Is there a catch to this when I quit after the cashback date?

Will my credit score go down? Will I be blacklisted from the bank or loan providers?

Sorry for the silly questions - just curious lol

    • When you do open a credit card your credit score will go down slightly due to the credit limit however once you cancel it, it should go back to normal. Shouldn't have a catch, as long as you have spend the $400 you should be fine.

      • @fuzzfighter actually, it's likely that merely having a new credit enquiry will negatively affect your credit score. That impact won't go away (immediately) when you cancel the credit card.

However, the impact of that credit enquiry is very unlikely to ruin your chances of getting credit. Unlikely to raise red flags for credit providers unless you submit a lot of credit enquiries in a short period of time.

  • excellent, $100 here we come

  • Does it count if you open a card through ASB and do a balance transfer from another bank, using their 6 month interest free option?
It says excludes "transfers from an existing ASB credit card, or in combination with any other offers" what do they mean by offers? 🤔

  • This seems like a good deal. I have a Visa rewards card but I rarely use it and true rewards only worked out to be around 100 or less a year. I think I'm gonna grab one of these and then cancel my Visa rewards card, no fees and lower interest if you ever end up forgetting to pay it off in under 55 days.
