Lots of lawn mower discussion over on ozbargain. Sounds a bit weak but good pricing, especially if you consider the battery pricing for ozito compared to the competition.

Might be a better option with 2 batteries. Not as cheap though

      • I had this Ozito 36v mower for half a year or so and it worked pretty well, then one day it just didn't turn on. I took it in to Bunnings and they said they don't have a testing policy for them so they don't even try to start it. They told me to go pick another or get a refund. I picked a Ryobi one, mostly because I have lots of stairs and although the Ozito is light compared to a normal mower the Ryobi is even smaller, it is noticeably less powerful at 18v but it's fine for me as I cut the lawns frequently.

Anyway, I'd say you can't go wrong with any mower from Bunnings if you can return them as easily as I did.

        • Yeah, 5 years warranty is good.
One day my petrol mower will die, i only have a small yard now so battery electric would be good.

        • I have got an Ozito linetrimmer died on me after 2 years, had to buy a new one the other day but still have the old one at home.

Didn't have the receipt anymore but should I just get it back to bunnings? Can you share your experience in returning your Ozito mower?

@spam: According to CGA, the manufacturer should cover the warranty even if you lost the receipt. Not sure how in this case. Perhaps ask someone at Bunnings. Only Bunnings sell the Ozito range in NZ.

            • @The Hound: Thanks. I'll bring it next time I'm going to Bunnings then.

          • @spam: If you’re able to find the Bunnings transaction on your bank/card statement to show date/time and the card # the store should be able to match up the purchase with their records. I had a ryobi tool replaced in this manner a few weeks ago.

            • @apieceofpie: Managed to crawl through my statement and found Bunnings transaction.

Turns out that it's 2.5-3 years old, not sure if it's worth taking since it's past the warranty?
It sort of still working as I tried last night, but only last for 5mins before the burning smell appear.
Also from memory after 10mins of the last working event, smoke came out from the motor.

              • @spam: Isn't it 5yrs on Ozito? Maybe CGA? No harm trying it anyways, worst case they deny it. In which case upto you if you want to escalate it or leave it.

                • @ace310: True, 5 years I've checked on the website.

Problem is then I need to return the kit. Since then I bought the same linetrimmer skin only so can't return and swap for something else.
Was thinking I could try using the receipt of the new one, but then the new one is slightly different than the one that died.

                  • @spam: Get this fixed and offload on tm/fb.

  • The $12 for 4 ratchet tie downs is an ok deal. Only 3m length though.

I picked up the mower today.. I wasn't expecting miracles here but seriously thinking of trying to get my money back. Would not advise unless you have a very small, very flat section and are prepared to mow it very regularly..

  • Anyone wanting to split the cost on Ryobi kit in Auckland? I just need the jigsaw, PM if you are interested.

    • +1

I've bought many a three piece kit before and have usually been able to claw back quite a bit by selling what I don't need. I reckon you could almost get the jigsaw for free if you sold everything else (including the batteries)

  • @kiwical

How do you know this ends on 22nd? Just curious coz I can't see any dates in the deal or the marketing email for this and I might not be able to snag the deal that I want if this ends on the 22nd.

Guess. Had to put something. Only thing on T&Cs that I saw was "while stocks last"

      • +1

Thanks. I asked them and it ends on the 27th just FYI for others as well.

Thanks for that, have updated the end time.
