Things you need to know
General items:
  • This promotion is available to casual sellers only (not in-trade).
  • Discount applies to success fees only, any other applicable listing fees still apply.
  • Relists started on Saturday 27 January 2024 are included, but relists after this date are not. Only applies for the first listing period.
  • Car parts are included, however large machinery listed in the 'Business, farming and industry' category are not (e.g. tractors and trailers).

Motors:
  • This promotion is available to casual sellers only (not RMVT registered, and lists less than 10 vehicles in any 12 month period).
  • Applies to used car and motorbike listings on a basic listing type only.
  • Relists after 90 days aren't included. Only applies to used car listings created on Saturday 27 January.
  • Applies only to cars and motorbikes (not to other vehicle types, e.g. campervans and boats).
  • This offer is non-transferable.

      The only sure thing is that it's always on a Saturday and not on a day that would have plenty of sellers anyway (like straight after Christmas).
      They usually rotate the offers but in no particular order.

          Not just Trade Me.
          If you have a look at previous deals on Cheapies, a number that used to be frequent have slowed right up.
          Offers like Waitomo Spin to Win, The Market, PB Tech Free Shipping, Kogan Mobile are all either pretty much gone or dramatically reduced in offer or frequency (or both) compared to what they used to be.
          There will be plenty more I haven't listed.

    I’ve found that the demand for products is much higher on Facebook market place than Trademe. If you are prepared to put up with more tyre kickers and rude people, then marketplace can net you a higher price.

      yes and more convenient too, i find people just watch them like i do with other sellers with no intention of buying as it can be cheaper elsewhere, it became a pricespy for the used market and just a site to advertise.

      Buyers on Trade Me tend to show more interest in expensive goods than buyers on Facebook Marketplace in my experience. It's hard to sell something like a phone because 95% of users who message you on FB either lowball you or just waste your time.

    I thought a remember seeing a way people were being smart and preloading the listings days in advance, but only launching it (for the discount) on the day.
    Does anyone remember how that works?

        The issue with doing it that way, at least in my experience, is that when I go to activate the product the images on the listing just vanish.

      You can also offer a fixed price offer after the auction ends and if anyone accepts it, the discount will still apply
