Not quite as good as the Black Friday deal but this is a reasonable option for a cheap home printer - especially if you want to stay away from HP.

Unless you can refill and override these chipped cartridges $40 each, this printer would cost you a small fortune.
Can you not use genereric cartridges with this printer?
I did with another model, but the heads block if you don't use it for a long period of time, and the printer is then junk. If you leave it on, then I found it does a clean on certain days, using up ink. IMO unless you are doing a lot of printing inkjets are a waste of time and money. I would only get it for the scanner.
Ah, I have an older canon which must be about 7 years old now. I don’t do much printing but i think it’s finally stuffed the heads now. No amount of cleaning or anything will get it to print properly again. For 7 years I was very happy with that purchase. I just kept getting generic cartridges which didn’t last very long mind you but did the job.
I agree, unless you really need color, get a cheap laser printer instead. Not much more expensive, but you'll get 1000+ pages from a cartridge of toner, no worries.of ink drying out if you don't print often, and no waiting for ink to dry after printing
Thanks for the advice. Do you have a suggestion for a cheap laser printer?
I personally still think brother lasers are the best value. Cost of refills is high unless you buy from third party supplier and then it's not so high. But you'll only need refills if you're printing tonnes and tonnes. I haven't printed anything at home for so long I gave my brother laser away, but I had it for 10 years with only one set of refills, of which I still hadn't gone through all the colours.
I've had this one for 4 years with no major issues:

I think I was only about $50 when I got it. It can be a bit finicky to get on the wifi, but you can buy a cheap usb cable to plug in directly.
I replaced the toner cartridge once with a third party one for maybe $20-30 and it's been fine
i honestly wouldn’t recommend this printer . i got one of these using a previous cashback deal, it keeps coming up with error codes that are not even real errors. was much happier with an older version of Brother printer but cartridges are too expensive
Also Bizrewards customers - there's a 15% off $150 spend promo until 09/02, which would effectively bring this down to $34.15 after the cash back.
