What does a $1 reserve mean? would your item still be eligible if you only have a buy now price?

    • +1

You can list an item for $1 reserve with a buy now much higher, this would be eligible, however if someone bids $1 then the buy now option will disappear.

Every trademe listing has a reserve [+/- start price] [+/- buy now]. You can't list an item without a reserve.

$1 reserve means you are prepared to sell the item for $1 if someone bids $1 and no more.

The only problem with $1 reserve free days is that as a seller, the market is likely going to be swamped with a lot of competition at $1 starting.
Therefore, it's much better being a buyer/reseller during the $1 reserve sales so you can stock up your inventory for the weeks after.

    • I've noticed my listings sell for a bit less when listed on these days, probably more then 7% less (TradeMe's fees).

    • In theory I thought this too but in reality i've found that it just depends on the item and how much demand it has.
If I listed something at $200 and it had maybe 20 watchlists but didn't sell, I can expect to sell it at at around $200 if I list it at $1.
If it's not a re-list, its harder to predict the demand I guess
