Get $100 Cashback when you Sign Up for a SBS Visa Credit Card + $50 Cashback for EACH Additional Cardholder You Add @ SBS Bank

200

The normal cashback rate isn't as good as Dosh, but if you signup before May 14th, you'll get $100 cashback:

For this next deal, not sure if it's targeted, but I got this via email:

I've just checked with SBS via both phone call and web chat and looks like these promotions will stack.

So you add your partner to your card, you get $50 cashback. Your partner then apply for her own card and get $100 cashback, then add you to her card and get another $50.

To add an additional card holder to your card, download the form here:
https://www.sbsbank.co.nz/Portals/0/credit-card/forms/SBS%20…

Then email it to:
[email protected]

UPDATE:
Just checked with SBS again, it's $50 PER additional cardholder you add. So you can add your parents and your partner and that'll be $150 cashback.

The form says it has to be a family member, but I've confirmed with SBS that it can be your girlfriend/boyfriend as well. There is no limit to how many cardholders you add.

  • I'm with SBS & got this email - I don't think its targetted.

General experience with the bank is very positive

    • Service wise, nothing bad to say about them, and they gave me a way lower mortgage rate than anyone else would.. but their IT / tech stack does my head in. When I got my mortgage, to sign up as a customer you needed to use a different app than their main internet banking one, that had last been updated for a few years and didn't work on recent versions of android and I ended up having to go see a JP and get a bunch of stuff verified by hand and send it to them, was a bit of a nightmare. Combine that with an internet banking experience that feels about 20 years out of date and it's a bit grim. To be fair they did release an updated version a few weeks later after I explained the issue to them, but I just don't feel IT is a priority for them, and as small regional bank that's trying to be an online bank in the 2020's that's a huge fail.

  • Damn. Signed up a month ago.

  • My wife and I have a joint credit card with SBS. I am the main cardholder and the card is under my name. For some reason their systems won't allow them to show the credit card balance on her online banking which is a real pain.

It sounds like she is an additional card holder for your account rather than a joint card holder.
If the account is under your name then she can spend on the credit card but has no liability for the debt. This can affect what information she is able to get about an account.
I’m not an SBS account holder so don’t know their systems though.

A joint account holder has equal liability for a debt so should definitely be able to see everything online.
Might be worth checking if that’s what it is.

  • when you apply for the card the domain changes from sbsbank to fnl.co.nz?! weird.

what a pain for additional card holder too -but worth it for $150!

FNL is Finance Now Limited who is owned by SBS bank, they must be using their systems to facilitate

  • Why does it say ASB in the title?

  • We've got an SBS CC and term deposit, can definitely vouch for those products.

Although as OP stated, Dosh does have better cashback so we are looking at closing the CC down purely for that reason as we personally don't need a CC anymore.

SBS does seem to be quite competitive with mortgages and TDs which is great, especially since they're a mutual bank.

You clearly have poor reading skills. The SBS link in the original post will take you to their site that mentions said deal.

  • Without their account, how long does it take to apply for their credit card?

    • about a day. fill out the form and then send them statements

I have applied to try and get this CC. The application requires a lot of information - I would say it is about 2/3 the information required of a mortgage pre-approval and so a complete pain in the backside.
Has anyone here successfully applied for cc + additional card holder, and then additional card holder applies and then you become and additional card holder on their card for $300 bonus total?
PSA, during the application they ask you to enter your bank login and password into their Finance Now website so they can scour through your statements for the last 3 months. I refused this as it is against almost all banks terms of service, and they have said I can submit the official statements via email instead. So just letting fellow paranoid cheapies know they don't have to give their bank details away!

    • Good to know! I did it then changed my password immediately 😂

  • I’ve received the credit card. How do I get the $100? Do I need to spend $100 on the credit card?
