Recommendations for computer monitors?

Hi,

Does anybody have any recommendations on the best value computer monitors available currently?

I'm looking for 2x 27-30" IPS monitors, they seem to be available for about $200 each but I don't really know what I'm looking at.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Cheers

  • I don't know much about monitors but I think you might need to give a few more details for recommendations on best value.

    Such as:
    Resolution,
    Frame rate / Refresh rate,
Type of port(s) you want. HDMI, DVI, Displayport
    G-sync/Free Sync
    headphone port
    Tilt, pivot, Swivle
price range you are okay spending for each
What you might want to use them for etc

    • Hey Fox, thanks for the reply and yeah, fair call on more detailed specs…
I have done some more reading up on the that and have concluded a high resolution would be ideal (it'll mostly be used for image and video rendering).
Frame rate probably doesn't matter tooo much. Standard ports will be fine (HDMI i guess, just to go to a docking station).

If you are doing image and video rendering you might want to look into 4K monitors.
Again I am not an expert for what is best but here are what is on sale/offer atm with PB-tech, there is a post with free shipping too code "SHIPITTOME".

        AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K $401.35
        Samsung LU28R550U 28" 4K $379.50 with promo code "MONITORSMASH"
        LG 27UP600-W 27" 4K $402.50 with promo code "MONITORSMASH"

It might take a bit of research or visiting stores to figure out what you want.
There might be a cheapie that knows about Monitors too.
        I am just a gamer :)

There was a thread a few weeks ago with various chat on replacement monitors - anyhow I found this which is 100hz IPS

For $200 it’s pretty easy to purchase a second hand 28” Samsung IPS on TradeMe

  • one tip is defo do not get 1080p at that size.

    • Thanks for the tip, I had assumed most modern screens would have decent resolution and that 1080p would probably be fine. I guess not!?

the bigger the screen the higher the resolution is recommended, 1080 pixels high on a screen can start to be noticeable on larger screens, that being said many people dont notice it.

  • Hey guys, does Dell NZ no longer have the same deal that AU have? in the past the price seems to be much better - just the currency rate difference

    • Whats the dell deal?
