  • What are yall buying? I need to get some thermal paste, maybe even monitor arms but cant afford it

    • +2

I feel amazon has better quality monitor arms at a good price

I have 1 of this and another from same company for few years now and very happy with them.

      • +1

Absolutely, bought this and its amazing for its price https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09MD63VN1?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_…

      • Oh wow thanks for sharing, I might look into these, they look a bit bulky but it will be behind the monitor so not a big deal.
Only thing now is to get a second monitor that has a VESA mount as mine doesnt currently.

        • +1

They are very well build. Seems bulky but are strong and sturdy.

          • @ace310: Most of it is going to be hidden behind the monitor anyway so not really a big deal. I hear its better to have each monitor on its own arm, is that what your current set up is like as well?

            • @Vena: Yes. I have 2 single arms. As I like to keep my monitors on either side of my laptop. Also, it's better to have 2 single arms if you have space so that you can adjust them as you like.
Also, if you have different size monitors, it doesn't align properly with dual arm(I have 32" & 27" monitors). And weight distribution is another factor.

              • @ace310: Cheers, yeah I have a 27" and a 24" so may not properly align, hopefully should have the space hopefully they're pretty adjustable

      • There is tons of feedback on these over at Ozbargin (largely positive). Ive got one and its great. Really cant see what value you get from more expensive options.

      • dang, amazon canceled my order and issued a refund because it was returned by the carrier, might have to try another one

        • Happens often. Not sure why. Once I ordered speaker stand which was returned cuz carrier flagged it as damaged.

kogan has excellent priced monitor arms under their own brand, have been using them for over a year and the quality is just as good if not better than the alternatives at pbtech.

I have three 27" monitors with one single monitor arm and one dual monitor, these are the ones i purchased:
      $69.99 https://www.kogan.com/nz/buy/kogan-full-motion-gas-spring-du…
      and
      $49.99 https://www.kogan.com/nz/buy/kogan-full-motion-gas-spring-si…

      Both with free delivery!

      • And neither are in stock :)

        • They come in and out of stock all the time. Weird that its cheaper to get them with that silly laptop plate included, but they have never been known to be logical with their pricing.

          • @richms: yep, ive seen them constantly go in and out of stock, so just have to keep on looking. personally never used the laptop plate but i guess its a nice to have

Just be wary that they use aramex for shipping.

Aramax have a history of bad service poor delivery times and general items going missing.

    • +1

Seems to be very case-by-case. I'm in West Auckland and never had a problem with Aramex personally and I've had dozens of items delivered. Very friendly local delivery guy too.

      • +2

Then you are indeed very lucky your local delivery guy is decent, unlike most of the others from Aramex/Fastway.

    • I am in Christchurch and their deliveries are amazingly quick. Not sure if its Aramex though.

    • I don't know what the commercial rates are like but when Aramex costs half as much to send items inter-island with 2k coverage than what NZPost asks for(2k coverage=courier service not parcel having $250 coverage) then I'm picking the slower Aramex service everytime.

    • +1

Aramex has pretty much always been fine for me. PB Tech use NZ Post sometimes.

    • +1

Stopped buying off them when a few items went missing.

    • +1

really? ive never had aramex with pb tech orders before.

      • They use both NZ Post (Courier Post) and Aramex (Fastway). For me they usually use NZ Post, but not always.

    • Aramex is no longer PBTech's primary provider it is mostly NZPost.
Only CHC and Tauranga use Aramex still but most of the branches that were using Aramex have since stopped because of the reasons people have stated everywhere online.

  • +1

If you've ever tried to get warranty coverage from pbtech, you'll never shop with them ever again.

    • +1

They can't go against the law so just know your rights (CGA)

    • +1

I've probably RMA'd like 5 items in the past 5 years and they always seem to handle it well, If there's an issue after just receiving the product, they've given me a replacement the same day or whenever they have stock come in from other stores.

    • Cant comment on your case without context but i am sure there is a reason it was denied.
Liquid, Damaged or well beyond "Reasonable time"

  • Their website is getting smashed … am in the waiting room waiting for the web page to load.
"You're in the queue Your estimated wait time is 1 minute… " has been showing for the last 5 minutes.

  • Not working for me, trying to get some more boxes of cable and its charged me $8something
