15% off Storewide (Excludes Halo V2 Series Mechanical Keyboards) + Shipping @ Nuphy US

10
AS15

15% off all Nuphy Keyboards (Halo V2 excluded) on the US Nuphy Site.

I asked support on the Australia site if they were having a sale and they said no, but they will offer a 10% discount instead, however with exchange rates etc I found that the US site even with shipping works out cheaper with this 15% off compared to the AU site when you convert it to NZD.

Picked up an Air 75 V2 yesterday as have been waiting for a discount for a while now and they don't come up often more than 10%

  • Which switch did you go for? I'm thinking of getting Wisteria.

How does this compare to Keychron K3? I'm currently using it with different switches and I have like 4 other mechanical keyboards at home already. Do I really need another lol.

    • Trying Cowberry but it was between that and Wisteria. I use an MX Keys at the moment but also have a Logitech G512 with Browns so going for the middle ground with Cowberry.

      • I was looking at Wisteria as well.

Isn't the Cowberry linear? Both Brown and Wisteria are tactile.

        • Yeah Cowberry is linear but giving it a whirl as I liked the sound on the videos of it better :)

@GuybrushThreepwood: I ended up going for that too. Read some Reddit comments that there was a sticking issue for the cowberry switches though. The Nuphy team said they fixed it, but some guy bought it after that statement and still had the issue. Hope mine doesn't have this problem.

            • @NovaAlpha: Well, I got the keyboard today and it's really good quality and feels and looks much better compared to my Keychron K3 v2.

However, the Cowberry switch takes a little getting used to. I've always used tactile switches and I'm getting a lot of typos with Cowberry, due to how sensitive linear switches are compared to tactile ones……maybe I should have gone for Wisteria.

              • @NovaAlpha: Still waiting for mine, its stuck with Aramex as usual. Makes its all the way from China in 2 days, then nearly 9 days with Aramex LOL

@NovaAlpha: Just ordered some more keycaps and the Wisteria switches. If anyone wants to buy the Cowberry switches, PM me.

                • @NovaAlpha: @NovaAlpha how are finding the Wisteria? I like the Cowberry but noticed I'm making a LOT more mistakes than I usually do. I think its the low pre-travel on them. I put in the Wisteria switch and it feels slightly better, but also surprisingly quiet as well, so tempted with these too.

@GuybrushThreepwood: @GuybrushThreepwood - I haven't received my new order yet. I only bought the extra switches (Wisteria and Moss) a few days ago. It was only after I received and tested my Nuphy with the Cowberry that I realized it's not for me. I like the sound of it, but yeah I'm making too many typos. I've done like 10 typing tests and they were consistently the same at around 104~118 WPM. That's much lower than the 130 WPM I got with my Keychron K3 with blue switches. The pre-travel is too low. If you barely press on it, it registers the key. Most of my typos are from random keys that my finger barely rested on and sometimes it would register the same letter key twice. It's rather annoying.

I'm hoping the Wisteria will fix this issue. Bought the Moss as well just in case, as it has more travel than the Wisteria

                    • @NovaAlpha: One really annoying issue that I found is that when my laptop wakes up from hibernation or sleep, or when my laptop is restarted, the keyboard doesn't register any input at all, even though the lights are on and it's responding to my input. If I press the capslock key, it will toggle the capslock light just fine, but nothing is sent to my laptop. I have to either unplug the wired cable, or switch the mode to off and back to wired. Not sure if any other modes have this issue.

My cable is not directly plugged into my laptop. It's plugged into a port replicator, which then goes to my laptop. My port replicator is fine though, all my other devices plugged into it have no issues whatsoever. And I never had any problems with my other keyboards like Keychron.

  • I have NuPhy Halo 75 (v1) with Gateron Baby Kangaroo switches and it's really good! Disclaimer - it's my first proper mechanical keyboard (I don't want to mention I used to have G915, which feels very cheap compared to NuPhy)

  • Found these codes that also work:

    MAIDENMANILA5
    ST10

The following code only works when you have nothing else in the cart but the keyboard:
    UPGRADE20

Also, if you email [email protected] and ask for a coupon code, they will most likely give one to you. It helps if you've already ordered from them before. I've asked them and got a 10% coupon for my 2nd order.

@GuybrushThreepwood - what firmware is yours on? Have you updated yet?

    https://nuphy.com/pages/qmk-firmwares

I just flashed to v2.0.3 (latest as of this writing) and it seems fine. Hopefully this fixes the issue I'm having with the keyboard not responding after I resume my device from sleep/hibernate/restart.

    • @NovaAlpha not sure, haven't checked. Think i might have to get some different switches as after a couple of weeks nearly I'm still making a lot of mistakes and going a lot slower. Just accidental keypresses which I think is the cowberry being too light. Currently have the Wisteria and Moss in keys and thinking I like the moss more. I went for Cowberry as supposed to be the quietest, but none of them really are "quiet" so I think the moss has less chance of me mistakenly activating it.

Wisteria has been working really well for me atm, but yeah moss would be better for making less typos.

        • @NovaAlpha Thx yeah I'm torn between Wisteria and Moss. I came from MX Keys and looking on RTings that has a force of 61gf, so the Cowberry at 45 is just really light to what I'm used to, so I think the Moss with a 60gf might be about perfect.

@GuybrushThreepwood: You could always add the MX Brown in there if you want a more precise typing experience. I've got a bunch of MX switches for my Keychron and I'm pretty sure they are compatible with the Nuphy, but I haven't tried yet.

One thing to note is the keycaps, make sure they're actually flush on top of the switches. I bought additional shine-through keycaps and noticed that they don't sit as well as the standard key-caps, so I had to jiggle them a bit. Sometimes, they get stuck on the switch and don't bounce back properly. After adjusting them, they're all working fine and this clearly helped with my typing. It's been 3 days now and I haven't felt the urge to bash my keyboard because of the sensitive-touch typos. I'm fine with actual typos, but not ones that I had no idea about.

One good way to check if the keycaps are flush is to just look at your keyboard from a 90 degrees angle, from the spacebar all the way down. If the keycaps aren't flushed, they'll be pretty noticeable, as you can just compare with the other adjacent keys. And just tap on them to make sure they spring back correctly. You may find that some keycaps may look flush, but is only properly seated on one side and not both. The enter key for me was an annoying one, it was getting stuck constantly until I fixed it.

            • @NovaAlpha: Thx yeah, I checked they sit flush as saw a few posts that mentioned that and all good.

Had a play around with the switches today and ended up ordering some Moss as I am pretty sure its just the Cowberry are so easy to trigger as they are so light. I kept bouncing between this and my old MX Keys and realized that even though that has such low travel, the force required to press the keys is more in line with the Moss. I really liked the sound of Wisteria but I kept triggering them too. Bummed to have to order some switches as they ain't cheap but will see how they go.

              • @GuybrushThreepwood: You should ask them for discount code. I got a 10% code from them.

                • @NovaAlpha: Yeah got one too.

                  • @GuybrushThreepwood: @NovaAlpha I got my Moss today and it's such a big difference!

With my old MX Keys I would get around 65wpm and 80% accuracy on typing test. With the Cowberry I was down to 55wpm but 70% accuracy with the typos!! Put in the Moss, no testing and did a typing test, 79 wpm and 91% accuracy. Big jump in speed and especially lack of typos.

They sound a little louder which is a bummer but I can live with that for now as the lack of accidental presses for is making such a big difference as I was really not getting on well with the Cowberry.

@GuybrushThreepwood: That's good to hear mate. I would recommend doing a couple of typing tests to make sure you get an average. My first test was 128 WPM, then it went down and now I average around 118~125 WPM. It's not my fastest, but that's fine since it's good enough and the accuracy is what's important to me. I haven't had a single unknown/unwanted typos since switching to Moss and I like the sound still. I sometimes run my finger lightly through the keys (without pressing down) just to hear the sound and it's satisfying lol.

Also, Nuphy is doing a 20% sale atm, which is annoying since I already bought stuff off them. Oh well.

BTW, I would recommend getting the Folio case and the shine-through keycaps. I think they're worth it. I use my case a lot as I take my keyboard to the office and my bag is full of peripherals (mouse, headphone, earbuds, secondary custom 12-key programmed keyboard (poor man's Elgato switch essentially), among many other things. My Keychron K3 didn't have a case and some of the key caps got dinged up, but with the Folio case, my Nuphy still looks pristine. It's a must-have. And the shine-through keys are great if you turn on the keyboard brightness to the max and it just feels good to look at the keyboard and feels good to type on it too. This is really a feels-good keyboard compared to my Keychron.
