Advice on non cash asset investments that aren't kiwisaver
Comments
A lot of the Kiwisaver providers in NZ also provide very similar non-Kiwisaver investment funds too. See below for ones offered by Simplicity, but there will be many others.
I second Simplicity. They have also reduced their management fees and have no membership fees: https://simplicity.kiwi/fees
Withdrawals also happen very quickly (3 business days) from the Investment account
I suggest buy gold and bury in your garden and when China and Taiwan pop off, trade and make a killing.
I think https://www.moneyhub.co.nz/ has resources that will help, explains the various platforms in nz
sorted.org.nz
real estate, stock, gold and use platforms like investnow
forgot to mention, ETFs is a pretty safe bet if you just want to put money in and not bother with monitoring it. And for stocks, try to find ones that gives you dividends.
also, don't get trapped by those fake gurus on Youtube or whatever. I know a lot of people who bought into their expensive "courses" and those are basically designed to trick dumb people who don't know any better. And be careful of stock related AI tools out there that can "analyze" trends and make investment bets or purchases for you. Do your research.
I listen to a vid / podcast called Keep The Change and he interviewed a guy recently from Generate on "Thematic Investing", was pretty interesting - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15AJ8tdGfSo
Thanks everyone. Especially like the gold and simplicty ideas and will look into those first.
Probably prefer a safety deposit box over the hole in the garden for gold but like the outside the box thinking.
Just make sure the neighbours don't spot you burying it :)
Have a look at https://investnow.co.nz/ which offer a number of managed funds as well as some newer index funds, which are tax efficient (they use PIE) and have low fees.
Am not associated with them but do use their platform. I use Hatch & Jarden (both owned by FNZ?) for shares.
