TSB making changes to interest and reward rates

From 8 July, TSB is changing the cashback rates: https://www.tsb.co.nz/cards/credit-mastercard-interest-and-r…

With this change what's the best card out there in terms of pure cashback offers, rather then the lousy points/rewards system other banks offer?

    Dosh might be up there
    No fees
Not a bank nor a credit card but Dosh offers a Visa debit card currently returning $1 per $100 spent back into your Dosh account monthly.

  • In terms of best cashback, Dosh is #1, then SBS. Or get both. Dosh for debit and SBS for credit.

I think the $50 for additional cardholder is still valid, cbf checking:

  • With the new rate it is basically on par with Dosh at 1%. But obviously with an annual fee. Depends on how much you spend it might still be a good deal.

  • I think we more than concert the annual fee. Remember there's other perks with the credit card though. Things like travel insurance shouldn't be forgotten if you use it.

  • The amex gold rewards card is best, by far. You earn amex points, but they don't expire, and they can be converted to various flight and hotel reward schemes around the world. If you do the conversions well, you can get something like a 5% reward rate on any spending. You also get 2 high class dining vouchers which basically are a refund of the annual fee.

  • After emailing them about this, here's what I received. Tossing up whether to keep or go back to the Platinum Amex.

Firstly, thank you the time you have taken to share your concerns today. All customer feedback gives us the opportunity to respond and where necessary improve our customer service experience and we appreciate that. We have kept our platinum reward system the same since it launched; however economic pressures have meant that we needed to change these rates to remain competitive while providing a product that delivers good value for our customers.

The cashback rate is the same across all cardholders on the product and therefore cannot be changed. From 8 July all Platinum cardholders will earn cashback at $1 for every $100 spent on eligible transaction. we are unable to offer permanent fee waivers.

Our TSB Platinum Mastercard is still our best credit card for cashback rewards and delivers better features and benefits than our previous Visa Credit cards did, we believe this product remains competitive to other products in the market.
