2x DeWalt 18v XR 5.0Ah Batteries + Charger $499 + 1 of 5 Bonus Tools (in-Store Only) + Extra Battery (via Redemption) @ Mitre 10

70

In store deal only

If you purchase a Dewalt 5.0Ah batteries and charger kit (2x 18v XR 5.0Ah batteries and charger) in store you can choose 1 of 5 Dewalt tool skins.

The options are:

  • XR Cordless Angle Grinder Skin 18v valued at $413
  • Compact Impact Driver Skin 18v valued at $399
  • Multi-Tool Skin 18v valued at $389
  • Brushless Planer Skin 18v valued at $511
  • XR Cordless Circular Saw Skin 18v valued at $396

Also, Dewalt has an online redemption promotion on the kit so you can get an extra 18v 5.0Ah battery.

The bonus item deal is limited to 2 per customer. I wonder if you got 2 of the battery kits and therefore got 2 skins, you'd then be able to get an additional battery from Dewalt from their redemption promotion buy 2 skins and get a free battery.

Looks like NZ Safety Blackwoods sell the exact same kit for $498.99, and as we know because of numbers, that's 1 cent cheaper than Mitre10's price! Could be worth a try to get this kit down to $424.15 from Mitre10 after 15% discount…

I do see a couple of potential issues, the first being that the dispatch date on NZSB isn't until the 1st of July, so not 'same day' in the eyes of Mitre10, and also that there's no redemption bonus with NZSB, which Mitre10 could also use to discount this deal as part of their T&Cs.

But hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained…

  • DeWalt finally with a decent offer. Was almost tempted to switch to Bosch recently due to better deals.

Bunnings's counter feels better: the same battery kit when you buy one of the five skins, each of which is < $499:

    Tool Mitre 10 Bunnings
Batteries and charger DCB1104P2-XE Same: DCB184-XE (battery) plus DCB1104P1-XE (kit containing the same battery and DCB1104-XE charger)
Angle grinder DCG405N-XJ (slide switch) DCG406N-XJ (paddle) $410.98
    Planer DCP580N-XE same, $484.98
    Multi-tool DCS356N-XJ same, $385.98
    Driver DCF850N-XJ same, $330.98
    Skilly DCS570N-XE same, $393.98

I could not see on guaranteedtough.co.nz how you could redeem a battery from one skin, as Mitre 10 is claiming.

If you get two skins from Bunnings, the DeWalt redemption would grant you another battery for a total of five, and you'd have two chargers.

(Let me know if this should have been a separate deal)

Also consider the $1000 six-piece deal that Mitre 10 does now and again: https://www.cheapies.nz/node/40977. You get the same skilly and batteries, no planer, an older multi-tool, and a different driver (not as grunty, says youtube, and certainly not as compact) but you get a hammer drill and an angle grinder. And a torch, woot.

There ends the facts, here starts the opinions: if you don't need a torch, and you think cordless angle grinders aren't really up to it, and you don't want yet another drill and driver, get the skilly and multi-tool from Bunnings for $780 then plop a battery or three and one of your chargers on trademe.

    • DeWalt Instant Redemption:

Do you get two battery and a charger for just one skin? ; That seems pretty good.

    • Good spotting. You can make a separate deal post if you'd like.

Some of the redemption deals are M10 specific. The M10 isn't buy one skin redeem for a battery, it's buy that specific batteries kit and redeem for an extra battery https://files.cheapies.nz/upload/6863/5050/m10_dewalt.png

The Driver is a better deal at Bunnings and the Planer a better deal at M10. The other ones are about the same depending on how you value that extra battery. If you're getting 2 tools then Bunnings is probably better.
