  • I'm curious if anyone has received the full 40% cashback advertised for Temu? I recently made a purchase for $40 and only got $7.80 back, which is like 20% cashback, not 40%. Worked fine for chemist warehouse 20% cashback offer.

    • It should be excluding taxes and any credits and vouchers you've used.

So if you spent $40 but had the following it'll reduce the amount:
      - $10 off voucher
      - $5 credit on your acc
      - Any price adjustments you do after

then the total spend will be: $21.74
      $40-10-$5=$25 - GST 25*((3/23))
      $25 - $3.26 = $21.74
      40% of that
      $21.74 * 40% = $8.6957
      so it'll be around $8.70 not $16

      • My total spend was NZ$40.44. Credit NZ$1.07 and GST of NZ$5.26
        No vouchers.

        So total spend was $34.11
        Only got $7.87 in cashback.

I had thought that any account credit you use still counts for cashback?

        • You are eligible for cashback but it's excluded from the the cashback amount as per:

            Thanks - I hadn't spotted that before.

Very odd that coupons (which reduce the actual cash you paid out) are allowable for cashback, but credit (which is related to actual cash you paid out) is not allowable for cash back.

            • @Alan6984: Coupons aren't included in the amount either, I've used $40 off $160 coupons but the amount it's been based off is $120-GST.
They're just eligible for cashback too

I'm confused - your statement appears to be contradictory within itself, but obviously I am just completely not understanding :-)

How is it that both of these are true?

Coupons aren't included in the amount either

They're just eligible for cashback too

Presumably there is some nuance I am missing?

                Thanks,

                Alan.

                • @Alan6984: Eligibility and the Cashback amount are 2 different things.

                  Eligibility = criteria to enter/qualify
Cashback amount = the actual amount you're able to get cashback on

So you can have both you see.using a coupon or credit doesn't bar your from qualifying for cash back but it does reduce the total amount thats qualified for cash back.
Think of it this way, cashback is based on the amount that you actually pay on you credit/debit card less GST

And if you happen to do a price adjustment later then that'll also reduce the cashback amount
                  make sense now?

                  • @Huntakillaz: Not entirely, but I am certain you are absolutely correct!

  • How they calculate the cashback? Do we get cashback of individual items or total purchase price?

For example if i purchase 4 different items of 25 dollars. Do i get cashback 100% as new customer or only 30 dollars? Because returning customer will 40 dollars as cashback. So can someone please explain.

    • Individual items are tracked on shopback you place one order of four items costing $25 each you should in theory recieve the following cashback $30 + (100%) then a further $23.48 cashback on the additional $70 spend. $53.48 back on a $100 purchase aint bad.

      • +1

New users get both not one or the other?

      • That's good, thanks 🙂

  • Actual Cashback Recieved as below.

    40% cashback = 33.4%
    30% cashback = 25%
    20% cashback = 16.7%

  • Update: Cashback Ends 17/07 11:59pm

  • 50% new users, 20% existing at the moment
