      Thats only about 504 bananas

      • I'd figured around 500 myself, but good to see someone do the maths to get an accurate number :-)

  • Id rather https://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/p/samsung-85-inch-du7000-crys… due to warranty and product aftercare!!!

With both TVs you would be covered by CGA (at least 5+ years), so doesn’t matter about warranty.

The Samsung only has 1 year vs 3 years warranty for the JVC TV.

Would be curious to know which tv would have better picture quality between the two, as I know the 7000 series is awful (no surprise as it is entry level).

      • CGA is horrible these days (my experience anyway)…. + having to pay a fee for submission of application…

However valid points…. Just an Ex-Warehouse employee an reminded of all the faulty JVC and Veon TV 🤣🤣🤣

CGA is horrible these days (my experience anyway)…. + having to pay a fee for submission of application…

What do you mean by that?

I have always just talked to the retailer, rarely, but sometimes had to mention the CGA, and they usually go away (probably check with a a manager or whatever), and come back and roll over. I've never had to pay a fee.

The only time you might have to pay a fee would be to file a claim in the DT, but that's the same for anything filed there - nothing to do with the CGA, and a very rare occurrence of anyone having to go that far.

          • @Alan6984: they mean disputes tribunal fee structure

              @Dunno:

they mean disputes tribunal fee structure

Possibly, but as I said previously, a DT fee has nothing to do with the CGA itself, and is very rare that you would have to go that far so, if that is what they meant, its a bit misleading to indicate that there is a fee for invoking the CGA.

Usually, if you are polite and reasonable, the staff at a retailer will be the same, and willing to do anything they can to assist you. If you are rude and aggressive, the other party will likely react in the same way, and make you jump through more hoops to get what you could have gotten more easily.

@Alan6984: It is usually fine big retailers. But dealing with a small business or a tradesperson, it is often a bad experience, resulting in taking them to the TD. Then that can be hit an miss as it is the luck of the draw over who you get.

          Wait what?

I worked for noels and sometimes managers insisted on a bond but usually not and 9/10 times cga claims came back with no issues, same as an in warranty claim.

Customer would only ever pay if (outside of refunded bond, which I thought was bullshit when the product is being taken anyway) if things came back fault free.

My personal experience is that places like the warehouse and noels (mostly because of the product protection pitch) … overstate how hard a cga claim is to suss. Many brands actually don't even question it until much longer than the advetised warranty. There's a laptop brand that comes to mind that advertises 1y but gives the same warranty coverage for 3 in aus/nz.

@Grandma: Why is the bond required and how much is the bond?

            • +1

@L3tstaxth1s: Likely charged to cover freight and inspection of something that turns out to be fine after all.

            • +1

@L3tstaxth1s: Basically if it turns out not to be faulty they use that to pay any fees.

But the thing was, they also hold the phone or whatever hostage until you pay, so it was just needless imo.

I think $50 or $100. It has been a minute

Just to clarify in the original comment, when I say CGA claims came back no issue, I meant back from the manufacturer repaired or replaced with no stink. We could usually tell you up front if it's actually covered (lots of people doing weird shit to windows for example) or in the smaller store I worked in, our repair person would do the on the phone troubleshooting stuff to save having to send it off and get a nff (no fault found) going on

              • @Grandma: Yeah vwry true (sorry was busy)… yeah my biggest issue was the hostage holding… and often we didnt have a temp tv… so people were grumpy!

    • This same TV was $2,500 through Samsungs Education portal… granted, not everyone has access to this. But if you know someone who does then you can get some decent discounts.

It's out of stock now though…

  • Plus JVC's picture quality is not really good compared to Samsung or Sony etc.

    • Yeah would be curious to know what panel this is, most likely from Samsung, but maybe rejects or older panels?

    • Very few manufacturers can actually make 100inch panels, it requires massive investment. So it's likely to be LG or Samsung, possibly Innolux panel inside.

      • Also a good chance it's two smaller panels joined together. It can be subtle but with some of these cheap displays you can see the seam where the panels are joined.

      • Issue is also the electronics controlling the picture, not just the panel hardware itself.

I brought JVC 65inch when it was $950. And i believe price wise that's great tv. Easy to connect all your devices including Bluetooth. Remote is fine. Only issue is the sounds. Ill give 7.5 out of 10.

    • Overall I'm satisfied with my 3 year old JVC 65' TV which costed under 1k.

      • Satisfied with my 50" Veon, paid under $400 three years ago

    • Yeah I still got my 4K 58" JVC from 2021. I believe we got it on sale for $600 or $700. Still looks and works great aside from the software which is getting slow now. Any suggestion how to fix this? Does it just need a system reboot?

      • Best to use chromecast or firesticks

  • Now with free delivery but it's out of stock online…
