Not really actually! I used to be okay with the $17 plan but had to go up to $27. Thats $351 a year since Skinny has magically shorter months. So $198pa for much more data seems like a good move! I'm keen to br able to watch videos on the bus etc and not worry about saving data.

        • Yup.
Good choice. I'm on $17 plan and it suits me at the moment.

I most likely will be going back and forth between Kogan ($5 Starter Pack) and Skinny. Porting number whenever my 30 days expires and switching back till the 50% off comes in. Meanwhile I still have a work number so calling etc won't be a problem.

    • Can you port back to Skinny from Kogan? Are you able to reply to the port switch confirmation message?

      • +1

Yep, I got mrs number over to Skinny, got 8GB data, now transferred back to Kogan (same number), only thing is you just need to user another email address.

With Gmail you can always add a +1 before @ and Kogan will think it's a new number and let you create an account.

I used the same email address ([email protected]) with the same password.

        Everything is a okay.

A bit of hassle but worth it for now.

        • Hi mate you port to skinny and pay $17 to use the 8gb free data, and port it back to Kogan starter once 8gb used up?
Can i port straight from Kogan 365 Large Plan to the Starter Plan? If I port the number to Skinny, can I port it back to Kogan pretty much immediately?

          • @doubledippps: Hi, you can get Skinny sim for like $0.80 to $1.00. Skinny gives free 8GB data for bringing number over. I have a work phone so I can call around via that if I need to and once the 8GB is up, I port back with the starter pack with my gmail address using +1 at the end ([email protected]).

Feels like too much messing around but it's not for me. Super easy to do and porting takes an hour or two but works 100%. This way, you end up saving a lot more money. Best to have some spare kogan sim lying around so you don't have to wait for a sim card to arrive in post.

            I hope this helps.

            • @kartikb: Cheers, mate. I checked Skinny's website, and it mentioned needing to top up and activate a $17 plan to use the 8GB. Is that correct?

              • @doubledippps: I didn't have to top up to get 8GB data. Tested already a month back.

Skinny offers an 8GB bonus data mobile data plan to customers who port their existing phone number to Skinny.

  • How did i miss this post?!

  • So if i buy a large plan now but I am currently on an existing $35 monthly plan that expires in 18 days, will the large plan start from when my month finishes (so I dont lose out on 18 days)?

    • Buy the plan but don't use it yet. Use the voucher on your last day of your plan. Else you would lose your 18 days.

      • Cheers Ace. Im assuming that the large plan just uses the existing phone number from my current Kogan monthly plan number? Ie, I dont have to use a new number and port the old for the new Large plan?

        • Correct.
You’re already with Kogan so it’s just a plan change. No porting required.

          • @bigcheese: Thanks Bigcheese

          • @bigcheese: Just ordered it (without Sim). The Kogan order history says it will dispatch tomorrow. Does this physically ship rather than just a code via email?

  • Decided to go for it. My Plan renews in a few days couldnt be bothered porting out and back in again.

40% off is still pretty decen.

    • Does it send a voucher code via email or physically sent to you (ie you have to wait for it)? I too am renewing from a Kogan monthly prepay plan.

      • +1

Voucher code will come via email usually within a few minutes of placing the order.
It can go to junk folder so make sure to check there.
This applies for both existing and new customers.

        • Thanks just seen it!

  • Does Kogan have eSim and what network do they use? How is the coverage?

    • +1

      No eSIM in NZ.
      Uses One NZ network

      • No eSIM? So the 'No SIM' purchase option is only for people who have Kogan SIMs already?

  • Can unused data be carried over to next month? I was planning to go with farm source 2 degree( 32 + gst for 100 gb) but 15gb per month is enough for me. If it can be carried over to next month then its even better.

    • No - you only get your allocation of data.
Use it or lose it each month.

      • Hey when does the month reset?, the website is so poor i cant find when the counter restarts.

        • Depends on when your plan starts, e.g. for mine it's on the 30th of every month.

          • @spam: I see mine resets on the 12th, plan expires on the 7th.

  • How do I switch from the Kogan 365 Large Plan to Kogan 5gb Starter Plan, do I have to port my number to another network (eg. Skinny, Warehouse Mobile etc) and port it back? Can I port it back immediately after port away to skinny?

    • You do have to shift your number to another network before you can bring it back to Kogan. Doing this also requires a new email address. Read my comments above about adding a +1 to your address. It takes a couple of hours to port over and another couple to port it back so all up 4+ hours.

  • Extra large is $30 a month if you missed out on this deal
    https://www.kogan.com/nz/buy/kogan-mobile-prepay-voucher-cod…

    • better go with mighty 40dollor high speed unlimited plan

      • This is the post referred to.

Even though I posted this, in the interests of being balanced it is not necessarily better.
If 32GB of data is enough for you then why spend $40 when you can spend $30 per month?
The Kogan offer is also good for up to 2 years, as opposed to 12 months on MIghty.

It comes down to what is the best value for your needs, without paying for something you won't use.
