New offer for the first time ever, the person who signs up will also get rewarded

Refer a Friend, you get $10, they get $5 Promotion - Terms and Conditions
‍What is the Promotion about? We are rewarding you to share dosh with your friends. This Promotion (the “Promotion”) allows dosh customers and referee’s to earn a referral reward (the “Reward”). It's easy: every time your unique 8-digit referral code is used to successfully join dosh and open an account, you get paid a $10 referral bonus and the friend you refer to dosh will be paid a $5 signup bonus. You will only be paid the Reward if you, and the people you refer, meet the criteria in these terms and conditions, so please keep reading to find out how the Promotion works. This Promotion runs from 30 October 9:00 AM NZT until 6 October 2024 11:59 PM NZT. We call this the “Promotion Period”. You, and the people you refer, must meet all the criteria during the Promotion Period. If you or they do not, or if you or they partially meet a criteria during the Promotion Period, you will not receive a Reward.
‍Who is eligible for the Promotion? Anyone who has received an invitation to the Promotion directly from dosh or dosh users are eligible. If you have not received a dosh referral code directly from an eligible dosh user or dosh, you are not eligible.

  • Referrer gets $10 btw

  • Wish you could see all your notifications in the app. Once you open and close it, can't find it again.

    • Yes, and at the bottom it says T's&C's apply but I can't find them anywhere.

Bad news everyone. From an email newsletter I just got from them:

From October 1st, doshback will now be earned at 1% of all eligible spend up to the first $1,000 spent per month.

So that's $10 a month tops cashback? I've been consistently getting well over double that by channeling most of my spending through the card. Oh well it was great while it lasted. Guess I'll still be here half the month for the free $120 a year.

    • I just saw this too.

Get credit card with rewards, the Amex gold rewards card is good

They just nuked the cashback rate, now only to a maximum of $10 cashback per month.

From October 1st, doshback will now be earned at 1% of all eligible spend up to the first $1,000 spent per month.

Time for multiple cards? Not sure if CBF.

Crazy decision, why on earth would you use it past spending $1000 a month? It's the whole selling point of the card. Loading money to it is already a pain especially at the weekend.

Likely they were making an operating loss and their real goal was customer acquisition. Looks like now that they have an established customer base they are pivoting to become a bank and to provide other banking services instead.

Dosh earlier this year: "It’s been a milestone week in the Dosh Journey as Dosh is applying to become a registered Bank in New Zealand."

Pivoting to become a thing that literally everyone already has and absolutely doesn't need another one of? lol

@Rubenite: We've all seen the amount of profit banks make, so I don't blame them.

          • +1

@Rubenite: Competition is good, it leads to lower prices for consumers

            • +1

@curiousb: Lower prices for what though? Most banks have a free debit card, that's what Dosh is basically offering.

              • @kfr23: Interest rates on loans is the main one, more competition would mean a smaller bank margin there.

Would also mean higher interest rates for savers.

                It’s quite important.

I signed up for the card about a month ago just for this. May as well just go back to ASB's debit card with no fee. The even smaller amount of cashback doesn't cover the time needed to have to put money on the card each time. Already losing money from contactless fees.

  • Maybe @DoshNZ can chip in on why they are limiting to $1000 now. It was the whole reason we got the card and funnel everything that doesn't have a "Credit card fee" through it, easily putting $1500 / $2000 on it some months.

  • Their email also said "Just shop through the ShopBack app… it will be available to cash out into your dosh or NZ bank account."
Can't see it in my Shopback app - anyone else been able to add dosh as a withdrawal method?

    • I’m guessing it’s in the Dosh app, click Add Money button, then ‘Wages paid into Dosh’, then Request bank account number.

Then you give that number to shopback

I think I will need to stick to my current 3 cards approach - an American Express standard Airpoint for everywhere that accepts Amex, Dosh for everywhere not accepting Amex, and a EFPOS card for everywhere that has a credit card surcharge….
