Thanks, btw it's Noel Leeming (not Noel Leeiming)

  • Surely Eufy will have some massive markups on them, and bring the price right down?

    • +6

Lol I hope you are right but often these events aren't worth the paper it's printed on.

      • If we could buy single units way cheaper from ali express, surely noels gets them even cheaper deal in bulk

        • +1

I don't know if they include their bulk discount in their cost pricing.

"It reflects the average cost price of the product including administration and handling costs, and does not include volume related adjustments which may apply. "

          • @Stoic: I thought that meant abnormal ordering quantities. Eg. 1000 1 off, vs a normal 500.

    • Na not massive markups at Noel Leemjng on this product.

  • Cost + 0%? really? I wonder how good this will be

    • Here cost is subjective and varies alot. 0% really doesn't make much difference. Look up previous sales, not only from NL but almost all of them.

Yes, there can be some discounts, but not a lot. Considering black friday / boxing day is not far, you might get better sale going forward.

Cost+0 is gonna be interesting. When I worked for Joel’s ‘cost’ changed very frequently for many items.

Sucks for the workers over this time, hope there are spivs to make up for zero commission (although I think the scheme is very complex now compared to % of margin)

It’s worth a look though, can’t be as nonsense as the cost+0 iPhones they did briefly and had a lot of annoyed customers over $12 -$40 discount on $1k+ phones.

Best thing you can do is just use pricspy

    • Cost Price is negotiated with suppliers for sales events. Sometimes these deals are exclusive to one retailer but most of the time its given to all retailers since price match became a thing.

  • +2

Do they ever have any actual deals during these sales?

House brands like Endeavour, seasonal gadgets like fans/RC toys and add-ons like phone/laptop cases, chargers and flash storage (SD/USB cards) are usually 15%+ markup so yes they often have a decent discount.

I'm not sure where the perceived hate on Noel Leemings is coming from from other comments here.

Companies still have to pay electricity, rent and wages, demand something for cost only is saying that company is worthless to you.

      • Endeavour stuff is often much higher than 50%. The Endeavour tv brackets used to hang around the 60-65% margin zone. 15%+ markup better describes the main products than the accessories.

I think it’s just that they advertise this like some exclusive pricing, yet usually they’re not price competitive. Kudos to Noel’s for letting it be online too. Noel’s are advertising cost +0 so I guess it feels disingenuous if cost isn’t the cost of the item to them.

But I mean, just throw the code in, google the thing you want and if Noel’s is cheaper, woohoo! If not… ‘meh’

I worked there for a few years, the f&f flyers do generate traffic and the pricing with them isn’t bad usually, I’m just a crazy cheapie I think

      • The hate is that they advertise these pretty much entirely bullshit deals in a way that makes them seem like they will be great, but anyone in the know knows have almost zero effect on the products people actually want. Then they obscure this by requiring customers to actually go instore, rather than just giving an online code that'd quickly revel exactly how bullshit the "deal" actually is.

Honestly you have to wonder how much staff time they waste with pricing inquiries on products that result in a $20 saving on the retail cost of a $1000+ product that the customer isn't buying (cause they'll get it cheaper elsewhere) on these "deals" (I actually suspect very little at this point cause everyone know how shit they are).

        • There is an online code.

        • There’s a code this time, but you’re not wrong at all.

They did cost + 0 iPhones a while ago and it was in store only and customers were understandably a bit annoyed that they might get $70 off of a $2.5k iPhone 11 Pro Max 1tb or 12 pro max, I can’t remember exactly when.

I agree it implies much better pricing than you will get. But it’s online so can’t complain. Staff would’ve been told that warranties are the big sell with this, and with no margin (although probably spivs) I’d imagine there’s gonna be a lot of hard sells going on

      • no hate on NL just these sales are very lacklustre

  • Cost price doesn't include rebates, volume discounts etc. So the actual amount they end up paying for products is actually less than the "cost price". That is how they make money.

    • An interesting point I’ll make is that cost+0 and very low margin items at Noel Leeming play quite poorly into their salesman-led retail experience.

The two are really at odds. I don’t care that much as a customer but always find the interplay thing there kinda interesting

hmm i want to give a negative vote but I don't think my reason for it would be not up to scratch. surely there needs to be a middle ground for negative votes?

    • Middle ground is not a positive or negative.
      It’s no vote.

      • Yeah fair enough. I guess its positive tilted - which i actually think is a good thing. Middle ground was bad terminology on my part. Perhaps meant to say the criteria for negative votes should include promotions like these. Just my thoughts though not too worried about it.

Last time I looked at one of these, it was cheaper to use my Farmlands card than the cost price deal :P

  • Gives about $50 off the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Still cheaper to buy it at Harvey Norman right now

  • Panasonic Eneloop AAA Size Rechargeable Batteries 4 Pack $28.80, code gives a discount of -$12.68, total $16.12, the cheapest around and free to collect. I almost bought 4 yesterday from Healthcotes for $19.99 each plus $6.95 postage. Good saving of $22.43. We opened a Lego train this week, 6 AAA in the train and 6 AAA in the remote if you use it!

    • Outside of this offer make sure you use the CSCBG membership on your Noel Leeming account.
The batteries you refer to are $19.73 everyday price with that (under CSCBG Premium). Still dearer than this offer but a good saving off retail.

      • Thanks. I was using CSCBG Main and they were $36 down to $28 which was still a lot more than other places. Will try CSCBG Premium in the future.

        • +1

It’s worth checking both as the Premium & Main memberships can vary as to which is better.
Sometimes you will find Main gives a better price and other times Premium.

  • +1

lol had quick look at most products and the discounts are not much. Better to wait for Black Friday/Boxing Day.

It almost feels like the discounts are Retail price Less 0%-7.5% discount haha but of course there are some good deals too in there

  • Moving into a new house in a month, so was hoping I could take advantage to buy new appliances (microwave, fridge, tv, washing machine) etc, but products are barely discounted.

  • Does noel leeming still do a welcome code for $10 off $100 spend for new accounts and is it stackable with this?

    • +1

Yes you can still get a $10 off $100 code.
It’s a unique code so can only be used once (per signup).
      Details here
Don’t know if it stacks though.
