Small electric hatchback. In terms of Size, at 4.235m long it fits between a suzuki swift (3.845m) and a Toyota corolla (4.37m) in length.
NZ's cheapest new EV (bar the 40kWh leaf, which Nissan is still advertising, but I think is now sold out). Cheaper than a Yaris hybrid.
While a bit smaller than the 4.49m long 40kWh Nissan leaf, and has a much smaller boot the ORA has several key advantages. This comparison is based on the standard Range Ora
- Bigger battery (40 vs 48kWh)
- More range (270km vs 310km WLTP)
- More durable battery chemistry (NCM vs LFP)
- More common fast charge standard (CHAdeMO vs CCS2)
- More power (110 kW vs 126 kW), but despite this it is a little slower to 100km/h (7.9s vs 8.4sec)
- Faster DC charging (50kW vs 80kW for 10-80% in 41min)
- Faster AC charging (6.6kW vs 11kW three phase)
Ora comes with 5 years roadside assist,. 7 year, unlimited km general warranty & 8 year unlimited km battery pack warranty.
Just wanted to add to your comparision. The drive train in this is like night and day compared to the Nissan Leaf which is based on relatively old technology. On top of the LFP battery chemistry, this has liquid battery cooling so expect very long life and low degradation compared to the Leaf and no problems with overheating while rapid recharging.
Also BMW co developed the GWM Ora's drive train, and are using it in their new 2024 electric Mini.
