Zip 20cm Nonstick Frypan $4 + Shipping ($3 C&C/ $0 in-Store) @ Briscoes

110

I always pick up a few of these when they go on sale - not a forever pan but well worth the $4. They usually go down to $6, never seen them this low.

I haven't looked but have you tried the commercial suppliers? Nisbets, southern hospitality. I know you say NZ only, but aliexpress also has a good range of this type of stuff.

    • I can't vouch for them myself, but I've heard you can get good woks from Wah Lee's.
I found this 27cm one which is a little bigger than what you were after, but there may be smaller ones:

    • Sounds like you want a saute pan rather than a wok

  • Bit more expensive but good deal for Tefal - 2 pack for $39

    • It’s smaller compared to another same sized pans.

  • Does this pan warp once you put too much heat on it?

    • Yes.. specially the larger sizes, this 20cm one should be a bit better in that regard.

These non stick coatings aren't meant to be used on high heat, because they simply can't take it. They will break down after a certain point.

If you want to cook with higher temperatures, with non plastic utensils, and without the risk of a toxic coating leaching into your food, then buy some proper cookware.

I don't believe Teflon pans should be used at all, since they're fragile and unsafe. I don't think their convenience overcomes their negatives

cast iron pans are good aye

        • The best. Can be made relatively non stick with good seasoning too.

Buy once and it can be handed down over multiple generations.

          Cookware should not be disposable

Note it isn't induction compatible per the specs

  • Why am I getting a charge of $3 for click and collect? Store says it's in stock, anyone else?
