Century Car Battery NS60X MF $149 @ Northshore Battery ($126.65 via Price Beat at Mitre 10)

140

Not sure how many of you need this battery but i just bought one for my car since current one has become quiet weak.

Supercheap has it for $195.99 but i managed to walk into the store and price beat with Northshore Battery.

  • Did you check the model number? Cause the ones at Supercheap and the ones at Mitre10 mostly actually have different model codes.

They appear to be the exact same batteries, but with an extra number/letter, and/or slightly different capacities (which are also likely to actually be identical). Some will likely be the same.

In saying all that as long as they are pretty close and doing it online may work (did for me a few weeks back). The instore person noticed straight away (but I already had the discount code by this point).

    • ?? They're both NS60X MF?

  • I saw someone selling a new one on Facebook Marketplace the other day for $60, this is not a commentary on the new price, I just thought it was a good deal if I had needed one and it got stuck in my head.

Search for cca430, it's in Flat Bush.

My experience price-beating at mitre 10 albany wasn't great.
nsbattery.co.nz website says "Pickup available at Warehouse. Usually ready in 2-4 days"

Mitre 10 staff said "it has to be available for pick up today or it has to be same day shipment to price beat".
I guess they do everything possible to make sure using their "price promise" b.s. is getting harder and harder :)
    So no luck with that.

    • sorry to hear that @ember. i guess most of them is becoming quiet annoying as they check every single details.

    • I just got one price matched today in another suburb, it was relatively easy, Northshore Battery is not a well known retailer, they had to ask for a supervisor's approval.

      • I guess most of the staff don't even know their own policy… I got mildly annoyed first as it seemed like made up b.s. but it is indeed in their policy:

        https://www.mitre10.co.nz/price-guarantee

Does Mitre 10 competitors' product need to be available today?
Yes. Our Price Guarantee applies to products that our competitors (including online businesses) have available for same day delivery to you or collection by you.

        So… YMMV
the policy is written so they can deny most of the requests as they may like… lol

One thing that I don't get is why staff is fighting for it so hard as if their salary depends on that… pathetic :)

Maybe they get into shit if they allow it. Had a similar experience trying to get a discount on Sistema. The Warehouse had a 2 for $X deal and they refused to honour it even though I wanted 2. Had to ask to speak to the manager before they admitted there was nothing in their policy to give them grounds for refusal.

I don't know, that makes sense. It's basically saying "they must have a local physical store carrying the item in stock" to prevent drop shippers and international sellers.

    • It 100% depends on what Mitre10 you get (They are all independently owned unlike bunnings)

Shit I have even had diff experiences in the same store depending on the staff members hah.

    • That's the same one that got all pissy with my Sistema purchase because it was "too many" and would only do 4 of each size

    • Go to Glenfield, Albany are super picky on price matches and they take ages
