Its good to have one a 10 cents per litre off day this week because the BLACKCAPS just lost the last cricket test match. Caltex therefore won't be doing 10 cents off per litre tomorrow. The last time they had a discount day was February 9, when the BLACKCAPS won the 3rd ODI against Australia.

Date for this could be a little clearer by being in the Title or description

Comment noted! Will do next time :)

  • Sweet, got 6c accumulated today on $40 fill, so will accumulate another 10c tomorrow!

  • Gull also has a discount tomorrow (most likely 10 cents).

    • $40 at BP (Accumulate) then fill the rest up at Gull.

Is it bad to mix different fuels?

      • Or better yet, goto a BP near a Gull, as BP will lower their prices to try to match them. Not as much as 10cents, but quite generous enough…

        • +1

BP lowered to $1.489, Gull were $1.469, but had the 6c off from yesterday plus the 10c from today, so ended up paying $1.329 :)

        • @Shaw: Oh wow, haven't seen $1.329 per Litre in years!! I think East Auckland BP is $1.4 per L after 10 cents off, thanks to Gull :)

        • @Shaw: In Palmy? What stations were these?

        • +1

@Shaw: Yeah abit surprised BP was quite generous this time around. My local BP (Te Irirangi or Ormiston) is $1.459, thanks to Gull Ti Rakau's $1.449. Used my AA Smartfuel card for an extra 10c off, and my accumulated 32c since early January (expires end of Feb) to bring my gas fill-up down to $1.03 per litre Woohoo!

There will also be plenty of 0cents (free fuel) gas fill ups for heavy users of Smartfuel card today no doubt, such as delivery van drivers etc. etc.

        • @Mark Wasley: The above stations are in Auckland / East Auckland

        • @footy7: I figured the ones you listed were in Auckland. I looked at Palmy prices today and they weren't as cheap as what Shaw has mentioned, who has said before he is based in Palmerston North.

        • @footy7:

Prices for Unleaded 91 in Palmerston North today, at stations I saw.

          BP

BP Palmerston (Rangitikei Street) - $1.549
BP Main Street - $1.649 (no drop)

          Caltex

Caltex Tremaine Energy Centre - $1.539

          Mobil

          Mobil Rangitikei Street - $1.549
Hospital Mobilmart (Cnr Ruahine and Featherson Streets) - $1.549

          Z Energy

          Z Fairway (Rangitikei Line) - $1.549
          Z Supreme (Pioneer Highway) - $1.549
          Z Terrace End - $1.549

          Gull

          Gull Palmerston North - $1.539

          PAK'nSAVE and New World Fuel

          PAK'nSAVE Palmerston North - $1.539
          Pioneer New World - $1.539

No AA Smartfuel discount has been applied to BP or Caltex prices, all prices listed are pump prices.

          @Mark Wasley:

Sorry mate, just saw your replies. Was cheap in Levin.

        • @footy7:

          Nice, can't go wrong with ~$1/L !

      • Is it bad to mix different fuels?

A tank of Gull won't get you as far as a tank of fuel from BP…

        http://www.aa.co.nz/membership/aa-directions/driver/fuel-due…

        • Extremely marginal though, just a few %, and even less difference ($ cost difference) now that the prices are much lower than when those tests were conducted.

So I can assume that mixing fuel from, say, BP and Gull will have no detrimental effect on my car, the Gull portion will simply cause it to last less distance?

        • @Shaw: Yeah probably no harm on the mixing part, since a large portion of Gull fuel is still mineral fuel. Only 5-10% is bio fuel.

        • Not having all your tyres properly inflated would probably create a greater price differential….

        • @Jay:

Luckily that's cheaper to solve than filling a tank!

        • @Shaw: You can do it when you fill your tank!

        • @Mark Wasley:

Yea, I try to, although sometimes it's a bit rushed. Did it on the way home last night, so set for a while.

  • Yes, I will post Gull's tomorrow when I have the full information.

Hey mate, just note you can reply to individual comments by clicking reply below them.

      • I knew that. Might have been the best option in that case.

        • Ha, sweet as. Yea, probably would've been.

    • Oops, sorry I didn't see your post before I wrote up the deal.
