I thought I'd share this good deal with you guys over the Tasman.

The Chinese version of this camera has been very popular on OzBargain and today I have a deal on the new International Edition.

Apply the coupon ZZEVETJN in the shopping cart to get it for $46.38 US (~67.81 NZ) with free shipping.

It's availiable in black and white

  • Got a couple of the Chinese versions from another store, and had plenty of fun trying to work out what it was tell me. Cameras are decent in daylight, but the night vision is absolutely horrendous, pitch black without external light.

  • Cheaper on Ali Express with a firmware downgrade: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-Newest-100-Original-Xiao…

    US $32.85 with free shipping

  • Even cheaper at Gearbest US$28.89 w/ free shipping

Might not want to trust GearBest, but differently cheaper on AliExpress.

That's a different product entirely. You can't downvote for a different product.

    • It looks identical, whats the difference.

    • +1

Clear, could you please elaborate on how exactly they are different products? Don't have a problem removing the negative votes if you can assist me in differentiating between these. The language being different doesn't make them a different product either.

      • +1

Since you don't consider the language to be different… I'll assume the packaging doesn't count either. Firmware had to be changed as the latest disables the Chinese version. The other change was that the camera and power adapter did not meet any safety certifications in the EU/US and had to change to comply.

The action camera was never seen as being the same on OzB so I assumed this would be fine here too.

There was never a problem with it being posted, it just comes down to how it is perceived and whether it is different enough to be considered a separate product.

I'll have a chat to the rest of the mod team and work out what they have decided in the past when it comes to slight variations in products. As far as certifications go, that really is up to the end user to consider when making their purchase, and whether they want to live with it or not.

        • I see that there are some differences and revoked my vote. I'm sure how major the differences are but I'm not an expert in home cameras.

        • @ClipIt: Thank you. It goes down to whether or not people want to pay extra for ease of use and updated firmware. The downside is that Xiaoyi now charge suppliers more, so it's more expensive than the CN version and resellers will charge significantly less on the CN version to clear stock.
