A bit off-topic here, but to my surprise I've found Gull Kingsland today to be completely uncompetitive in price. They're selling 91 for $1.83 while nearby Mobil Sandringham is $1.75. BP Mt Roskill is $1.74 without Smartfuel, so Gull is almost 20c more expensive if you count Smartfuel, and even if you use the 10% off voucher BP is still cheaper.
Gull Kingsland $1.829
Mobil Sandringham $1.749
BP Mt Roskill & Mt Eden $1.739 - 10c Smartfuel = $1.639
Happened here in Levin recently too, Gull were the first to put their prices up to $182.9, and the others followed. Allied down the road is still $171.9, filled up last night.
The real point here is that if Gull wasn't there at all, the prices would all be $1.929
Gull just recouping back some moolah after that epic 15cpl discount some two weeks ago…
And this is how margins in petrol have gone from around 10c/L to over 20c…
