  • Apologies for the formatting in the post - was a bit of a mission to get them all in there along with the currency exchange rates! Should be live for next 23 hours unless sold out prior.

  • Nice post, cheers for the URL's.

    • Did my head in! Feel free to reformat as you see fit.

      • Na it looks good, not every deal needs a fancy table, each to their own.

        • Table would have been a bit much, that took me 30+ mins alone to do!

Have you seen the price on the Huawei SmartWatch? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013LKLIB0/ref=ox_sc_act_t…

Haven't been that tempted in a while to impulse buy!

        • @asmcar:

          Very nice price!

          Strange though:

$175.99 + $79.60 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to New Zealand

          @Shaw:

Yeah - annoying that. Think i'll use freight forwarder (+ prime 2 day shipping to it) to avoid having a deposit tied up. I'm wondering if it has been classified as jewelry or watches - do they have a lower threshold for duty?

        • +1

          @asmcar:

Oh yea, it must be what it is. Surely this is more of a computer/phone than a watch.. It's a small phone with a strap!

Even http://www.whatsmyduty.org.nz/whats-my-duty shows less than $60 required on watches at this price.

        • @Shaw:

I know - it's rather frustrating! Got a shipping quote from ComGateway (one of my three tested reshippers) for $55 NZD using DHL guaranteed price.

        • @asmcar:

Contact Amazon live chat, they may be able to help out.

        • @Shaw:

Think i've had a chat with them about this before - they say if it's no applicable it will be refunded. But there's never a guarantee it won't be applicable!

        • @asmcar:

I see, New Egg are the same, but a nightmare to deal with. They tried to tell me that it'd never be refunded, but when I demanded to know their GST number (As the purchase was well under the threshold, and would only apply if they had a local company) they couldn't produce it, because it obviously didn't exist. In the end they refunded it twice, strange company.

        • @Shaw:

Classic! I think Amazon would be a lot prompter, well i'd expect it given my previous customer service experiences (They have been excellent). Just tried the WhatsMyDuty calculator under watches and it only said GST would be due, no duty.

        • @Shaw:

          Interesting response from Amazon:

"Duties and taxes are calculated based on the market value, which is the actual price of an item before any promotions. This allows foreign country customs authorities to obtain the accurate amount owed to them."

        • @asmcar:
that sucks. was about to buy, might get it posted to my bro in Oz

        • @asmcar:

What, really? First I've ever heard of that being the case. Maybe it's just a generic statement, and other countries employ this tactic?

        • @shonofear:

Yeah bit flawed - I've ordered direct under the assumption that NZ customs won't collect duty but it's a bit of a gamble.

        • @Shaw:

The live chat guy was pretty hopeless - he said them collecting duty deposit wasn't based on the item but the address they would collect deposit on any item being sent to that address - which I told him wasn't true since i've had plenty of non deposit items sent here.

Then he said it was because of the item, so I added another watch of same value which didn't require deposit. My assumption is that they have based their deposit on the original value of $350 USD, because the Prime discounts aren't showing as the final price, they seem to show as more of a coupon at checkout.

    • Should I make a new post for other prime day deals or have more of a mega post approach? Thinking about posting that watch and other things as they come up - feel like i've already spammed a lot of Amazon (UK & US) deals these past few days.

      • Best to keep them in one post, with the best deals in the title. Although for example, if someone was to post the watch deal now, as a standalone, it wouldn't be a duplicate.

All-new Kindle USD 49.99 (38% off). This model only just came out a couple of weeks ago.
    https://www.amazon.com/All-New-Kindle-reader-Glare-Free-Touc…
Use youshop for delivery - should be NZD 12.50 (assuming <500g)

    • Thanks - just added to main deal!

  • Oh man, so tempted to buy 2 of the 64gb sdxc card for my Nikon d750.. and 64gb micro for my gopro even though I just bought another additional 1 for each of the two cameras which brings me just over a dozen in total..
