I have been looking through some good deals from Amazon UK since the Pounds dropped a lot. I made a list of the following items to compare with local price. Note that the Amazon UK price has included VAT and will be deducted in final payment page which I included on the next field "with Shipping". The conversion was based on 1.85 exchange rate.

Feel free to add on more to the list and happy bargain hunting!

Some items will incur gst for more valuable items. So may not be that worth it. I bogies dw watches too hope they won't charge me gst despite being under $300 for the whole order.

It is factored into the Amazon price, and passed on from them to the freight company.

    • The only item above incurred Tax was the Synology server, but still cheaper than the local price.
Good that Amazon usually calculate the tax on the final page.

  • With these higher priced items, wouldn't it be more difficult to claim on warranty issues unless you had an international guarantee?

The Karcher window vac is point in case. I love this bit of kit, but in six months have already had to replace it twice under warranty, because the pump motor keeps packing in. Wouldn't like to be trying to do that with an overseas supplier.

Often Amazon will provide really good service when it comes to faulty products, but it is always a gamble. I had a pair of reasonably expensive boots I purchased from Amazon US a few years back, and they broke after about 12 months of use. I contacted them directly, they sent out a new pair super duper express, and reimbursed for the return shipping, which was about $50. Can't guarantee this to be the case all the time though.

Amazon has a very good reputation of customer service. My HDD failed after a year of usage and still within 2-year warranty. I contacted them and they just refund me full amount plus the return shipping cost of sending back faulty unit to them. So far, haven't been any bad experience with them.

  • How does the Karcher compare to the Nilfisk? http://www.100percent.co.nz/laundry-and-cleaning/floorcare/h…
    $79

    • Ooh thabks for the link. I'm not too sure as this will be my first vacuum window cleaner. But I believe you can do a demo at mitre 10 or bunnings. Also, that link you sent me, one of the stores bunnings or mitre 10 should have it too if I remember correctly. They can do a 15% price beat if they stock the same item!

  • The plug will need an adapter

  • You can buy these window cleaners cheaper from Mitre 10 or bunnings if you get them to do a price match where they beat it by 15%, which should be as good a deal as this. Especially as you get it on the day and you get CGA protection
