Cheapies Christmas Treasure Hunt 2016 - $500 in Prizes (Instant Win and Raffle)

Hi all!

Looks like we might be making this a ChoiceCheapies Christmas tradition — Treasure Hunt! We did it last year and it was heaps of fun. So we are having a go again this year.

Treasures?

These are the treasures that are scattered around Cheapies.nz that might popup randomly. Look out for them!

  • 20 x $10 instant wins
  • 150 x raffle tickets. 3 prizes will be drawn $150, $100 & $50
  • Total prize pool $500

All logged-in users are able to participate. Check out last year's post for details.

Date / Time?

The first set of treasures will be released at 12PM 16 Dec 2016 — that's in 10 minutes! Moreover

  • $10 instant wins will be released on the site every 2 hours
  • 3x raffle tickets will be released on the site every 50 minutes from 12:30PM today

Which means the last set of treasures will be released at ~5:20AM Sunday morning. We'll wrap up the treasure hunt at 12PM on Monday 19 Dec Wednesday 21 Dec, and the prizes will be drawn soon after.

After the treasure hunt finishes, those who have claimed prizes will be able to go to market place to fill in your PayPal details to claim your treasure.

    Do they come up in expired deals like last time? what timeframe(ie last 3 days, 30 days etc), any min # of comments on said deals etc like last time.

    I was lucky enough to find 2 raffle tickets and $10 in first hour yesterday, haven't seen anything else since. Is it possible 3 is the max you can find? I have looked just about everywhere and nothing is showing up.

      That's my interpretation, although after I found 3, seems can't find any more, so maybe they make it harder the more you have to let others who don't have any get some?

    I think maybe people haven't noticed it because the pic is in the area where the ads normally go which may get automatically ignored, I think I personally saw it in the live view which maybe many users don't use.

      That's something we will take a look at after it's finished. Any suggestions will definitely be taken on board if we are to make it a yearly thing.

    Any tips on where to find these treasures? Do they stop appearing so far back in the new deals feed?

      HINT: Treasures will only appear on

      Front page (between the deals)
      New deal pages (between the deals)
      Deal/forum/competition pages that have (1) at least 3 comments (2) last commented less than 30 days ago (between comments)
      Also note that the treasure will only stay on the page for 15 seconds. So it might be wise to scroll up & down when you first load the pages to see whether there's a treasure.

        I've seen all that. Since I've only found two in the New Deals feed, I'm just wondering how many pages back do they go.

          I've only seen them on the first deal page(between deals) but the prizes that are in the deal comments, by those requirements… could be deals more than 4 weeks old.

      Think the cap is 1 * $10 and 2 * raffle this time. Scotty mentioned it briefly before posting. Last year some people claimed a bunch of $10, which was fine, but we'd rather have them shared around going forward. Still got a couple of hours to go.

    ChoiceCheapies Treasure Hunt 2016 is official finished (again). I have sent the list of Raffle Ticket winners to Shaw and he will be doing the draw.
